Item efficiency
Can anyone explain to me how item efficiency is calculated? Trying to figure out builds, power spikes, etc but needing some guidance.
Thanks!

EDIT: Misread, misunderstood.
Basically take some root item like Longsword that only has stats for a certain amount of gold. This gives us X gold=Y Attack Damage. Based on how well a later item compares to this root (ex Infinity Edge's 65 AD for 3800 gold), you can calculate how much AD or Crit Chance or whatever gets carried up the build tree. Gold per stat efficiency.
EDIT EDIT: Actually I think I'll leave this here to explain how to develop your item build:
Okay, there are three methods. The Stupid Method, the Logic Method, and the Math Method.
The Stupid Method is to lightly look over your champion and build based on what you see. For example, Volibear has two HP Ratios, better build Health items on him. I'm dying too fast as Jarvan, better build tank. I really like Zz'Rot Portal, I wonder if I can get away with it without getting reported. Etc.
The Logic Method is a step up from there. Consider purposes and how things are supposed to work and build with that. For example, you know Ryze is an AP pseudo-carry. This means that in order to best take advantage of him, you need to build in a way to maximize his damage. He's short ranged though (for a Mage), and takes advantage of Mana as well. Thus, if you want to do your job of dealing damage while working around his short range weakness, you want to buy AP items that allow him not to explode instantly for getting that close in a team fight, and chip away at any lost damage by making sure those bulky items also grant you mana.
The Math Method is to establish a certain goal, and get away with calculating. It's simple to explain but stupidly hard (or at least tedious) in practice, so I suggest leaving that to someone with a lot more free time.
Check out the wiki. They have a good page on gold efficiency. You can also check each item and they've already done a breakdown of the items gold efficiency.
