Why is it ok to rage quit?

as long as you don't do it "often".

Just had an adc who got ganked lvl 2 and died and said "fuck this, im out" and afked. Obviously not connection issues or had something come up irl, he just flat out rage quit a ranked game, and that's just fine with riot.

But god forbid i should tell him hes a jerk for throwing a ranked game, now THAT would be totally unacceptable.

It's not?

You're mistaking a leniency to disconnecting as an approval of the practice of rage-quitting. It's not.

Sure, Riot could crack down and instant hard penalties for leaving games, but that creates more problems. Everyone has had some situation where they had some kind of emergency and had to leave the game, or maybe their power or internet went out (you'll see plenty of them on here after a while). The unfortunate reality of being lenient for genuine uncontrollable circumstances is that you're going to have some dicks that take advantage of that generosity.

because people arent robots? your telling me you would nail him to a chair and force him to play a game and probably int instead? because that would be the alternative and for some reason you would say report so and so for inting but you forced him to int to end quicker. so he would rather quit than have a anger stroke.

Mental health > a random game lol. I'd rage quit too if it would be painful and totally anti fun to play a game. why would I even play then? I can just go out and hit on random girls and get pain that way if I'm that masochistic hahaha

I can total empathize with him. I've been there.. Those times I was on a lose streak, let's say a 4 game lose streak. I load into the fifth game and my bot lane feeds a double kill at 3 mins. I go for an all in top lane only to forget they have a Twitch jungle who just appears and fucks me over. I would just quit at that point, 9 out of 10 times.

I'm guessing this dude was on a lose streak or his last game was an incredibly tilting loss and he didn't reset his mental. League is incredibly frustrating to play most times because of how little is actually in your control.

I see what people are saying here to the op but you forgeting there can be a flip side. Yes they could have had a bad game preivously. BUt this could have jsut as easily been there first game of the day. IF you havent played with them as far you know it is thier first, and If they are having a bad lose streak and it affecting them that bad they should allredey have problly logged out of League to take a breather. I mean thats what I do after a couple of bad games in ranked. Shoot even after one vame if it s bad enough I am libal to leave League to take a breather and do something else. And jsut a reminder I am just looking at the the side that no one else is lloked at yet.

THat being said as to the last thing the OP said no matter the reason for why they are doing some you dhouldnt flame people. I say this for two reasons: One if said person is just tilted falming them only tend to make peple more tilted and they tend to get even worse. I know when I get tilted the last thing I need is people in my team saying toxic stuff to me even more so when the reason Im dying is because Im trying to ward so we a vision on the other teams movments.

Two said person is doing it to be a troll to get a riase out of in wich case they will just keep doing it. THat is becuase people like that live to make people angry and only do it because you are reacting to them doing it. Belive me in both rl and in games I have found ignroing trolls doing things on purpose tends to make them stop doing said behavior....not allways but sometimes.

Anyway thats jsut my two cents on all this take it or leave it.

Rage quitting is a MASSIVE problem in my elo (Low bronze). On average I would guess at least 2/3 of games end as a 4v5. Almost always after a ff vote fails. Yeah. Internet can go out. And it can go out 5 seconds after a person sees that the ff vote they started has 2 no votes so is going to fail. That can happen. Even if they never once pinged that they were having 8300 ping previously.

And they should face penalty. Maybe a small one at first. Automatic 1 game of (unannounced length) 10-25 minute queue timer for a 1st offense.

2nd offense within 10 games or 2 weeks = 2 games with random 15-30 minute queue. 3rd offense within 20 games or 4 weeks = 5 games with random 30-60 minute queue and no ranked for 2 weeks. 4th and subsequent offense within 6 weeks of a AFK punished as a 3rd offense = 2 weeks of playing only Co-op v. AI followed by 3rd offense penalty.

There are ways of showing leniency and putting an end to deliberate rage quitters.

I think the issue has less to do with punishing the rage quitters (i can, to an extent, accept the current punishment escalation), and more to do with how it affects those who are playing the game in the correct spirit as it was intended. The real problem as i see it, which Riot doesn't seem to care enough to fix, is that those who do not rage quit from the game are also punished in the form of a full LP loss anyway (excluding the irrelevantly low number of games that are won even with a rage quitter).

Riot implemented a protection from players who dont load at the start, but ignores the players who suffer from a later than 3min quitter. If Riot actually gave a shit, in my opinion, they would use some form of protection in ranked such as a reduced LP loss in the event of a rage quitter or post 3min leaver. This would still allow them to punish (as they currently see fit) the rage quitter or leaver, while partially protecting the players who enter games in the spirit they were intended.

Its been many years though, and by all available evidence, Riot appears to give very few fucks for those who play in the correct intended spirit of the game (the vast majority of their players). But i ask, why would Riot make an effort to take care of and protect their players who are the victims of the rage quitters (instead of only punishing the wrong doer)? Clearly their priorities lay with simply releasing new skins occasionally, making a quick buck, and acting as though all is well.

Only a few more weeks until WoW Classic can deliver us.

The simple solution, is if a rage quitter happens to be there, (in ranked). Simply, give everyone else half the LP to lose, and the rage quitter the sum of all of those half LP's

Rage quitter will lose 70 LP per match, while others only 15
