Pre-Season 2018 "Theme" Idea

(there is a TLDR at the bottom for those just kinda not into walls of detail)

Hey there, i'm gonna skip the long winded intro i had about being a banned player that recently re-grinded 1-30 because frankly, it felt like trying to speak like some "holy martyr" or something, but just dont let my account stats fool you, been here since 10/10/2013. Anyways, Runes as a lot of people might agree are a driving force that hinders getting new players in league. Anytime i get into explaining runes it usually ended with "most people either google pages or just make due with what they can afford" and that's just no fun. Now next year, this new system is set to fix a lot of that in one fell swoop and i'm thrilled at this both because ill obviously need IP to get my champ pool filled again, and i can retry convincing said friends to join.

That got me thinking, can that be the sort of "thematic" of 2018, is figuring out more ways to make league friendlier for newer players? Right off the bat I wanna say that yes we need a solution to "Vs. AI" in which people are making bots to play accounts against Riot bots. I know you've all seen the threads i don't need to explain that here i'm sure, but there's SO much more we could do too. Here's a list of a few ideas I wanted some feedback on. (Please note I am not suggesting we use ALL these ideas, but these are some of the best ones i came up with and want feedback on. Feel free to comment on what you like/dislike about any or add your own!)

• When new runes releases, i'd like Practice tool to incorporate the ability to shift your runes and "reset" the game when you do. I may be naive in just asking this like it's some switch to toggle but no better time like restructuring an entire system to also add a highly requested feature involving said systems right? There's no point making current runes and masteries work like this so I hope it's already on Riot's radar. I'd recommend a tab in practice tool under where you spawn drakes and such that brings up your rune pages, allows you to make edits, and then you "save" the page and it automatically soft resets the game as if you loaded in with that setup. I wanted to start with this because it's a feature someone both new and old can agree on.

• A better tutorial, or more accurately the tutorial needs an update. I mean dont get me wrong I think thornmail ashe is hidden OP as well, but maybe we should reflect the many changes in both micro and macro gameplay that league has become in these years. I'd honestly just recommend same formular (announcer gives commands and "quests" to do, which you follow one at a time) but more depth. Do a beginner and intermediate one to explain every basic from farming to buying and voila. EZPZ. (well in thought anyways.)

• These next two go hand in hand, not to say you can't do one without the other but they work better as a duo. Basically, IP is given in such an abysmal amount. When riot announced more GU's and VGU's as opposed to new champs, I was glad. Champions over the 3150 price can take days or weeks to get, and that's assuming you win most of them. (while as reworks can be great AND cheap, like WW, Galio, and Poppy) I know boosts are a thing but right now they feel less like "I wanna be twice as rich" and more "I need to basically buy this if I want a real champ pool" and that's counter to Riot's philosophy that this game should operate in a way you don't feel you "have" to spend money. It couldn't possibly hurt to take what the current IP is and times it by say 1.5? Or maybe offer a higher "First Win" bonus? Is it so wrong that I do eventually want to own EVERY champion, and continue to do so as they release?

"But Weeb! Think of the players that have SOO much IP!? To give them even more, what would they spend it on!?" I'm glad you asked mystery commenter, that's the next point • Make Ward skins available for IP. I mean 640RP!? I could get a couple hextech chests or even mystery skins when they do self promotions. (hey side note that hasn't happened in awhile?) Maybe this is just me but i never specifically added 5 dollars to my account for a ward skin. Usually, its just in a bundle. So why not kill 2 birds one stone? Making Ward skins available for IP (judging on the closest comparable champ price i'd say thats about 2500? Maybe 3K?) gives both another option to spend the currency on, another thing to collect (for those kinda people) and well who knows maybe it will be incentive for folks to ward more ;P If this doesnt feel like enough, id recommend Riot could consider making chromas always buyable for IP.

• One of the final but still most important things I thought of is that you should remove the "You must own this champ to earn key/chests" rule. It literally discourages me from ever trying a F2P champ because i might miss a fragment and I have a couple chests from S ranks. Also it is like a slap in the fact when you pick up a champ in the rotation, and do amazing, only to not get a chest. (Yes, it happened, with Miss Fortune. I immediately bought her and haven't been able to do it since :////) and maybe consider 5 a week instead of 4 both because it's a better "weekly" number to me and if you remove the restrict then naturally more chests will be gotten. If there was any suggestion i'd think anyone could agree with me on it's here so I saved it for last.

Some smaller ideas that need little explaining would be stuff like offering chests and/or keys at alternating levels (like every 3 or 5 levels depending on how many), weekly IP rewards similar to missions (take a current mission, expand it, give like 500 IP if you meet it in the week.) more incentives to party up like IP weekends and such (but not IP weekends ofc, i mean those are good but like maybe one for skin shards? Or something like that pool party contest we did where everyone had a chance to get the pool party mundo skin!) and yeah I think these are good starting points. EDIT: Oh yeah! and unlock summoner spells so they are all available at level one. That's just unnecessary and in the case of smite, ridiculous to lock someone out of such a necessary spell of a specific role.

TL;DR - I hope that we can make league more friendly for new players. runes reforged and the practice tools are good starts but the ideas above I hope get heard and tooled into something helpful. I'd recommend reading some of them if you just skipped to here but in the end the key point is I want to get more of my friends into this game i love to hate.
