Why does riven deal damage to tanks? whenever I play a glass cannon ad caster I seem useless vs tank

Whenever I play a glass cannon ad caster, like talon, kha'zix, etc.. I seem to deal no damage to tank champions, even with Last whisper/ghostblade. Yesterday I was 14-0 as talon and their full tank cho'gath could still 1vs1 me.

But whenever I see riven, even if i'm playing full tank, with Randuins, Dead's man plate, ninja tabi... riven seems to ignore all my defense and kill me as easily as she would kill an adc.

Am I doing something wrong?

Riven is better at killing tanks than pure assassins, and most tanks aren't really very good duelists. If you think she kills tanks easily, you should see Master Yi.

Depends on how you're playing. I don't think Riven is suppose to die to a tank that isn't a Juggernaut. Cho Gath is pretty good; he has a 650+(0.25) True Damage ult. If you tried to 1v1 Cho Gath as a squishy, he'd eat you.

I like how you find a way to blame Riven and not yourself.

I'm asking how to deal damage to tanks as an assassin/squishy fighter, not how to defend myself from riven. I think you got it wrong xd

As a loyal Kha player... You don't. You look for ways to get around them instead, and fight them with your team when you need to. Even if you can put out 3000 damage in less than a second, that isn't going to mean anything to a 200 armor Darius. As an AD Assassin, it's your job to pop their squishies out of existence, and it's the tanks job to make sure you don't.

Eventually at some point in the game, you lose your influence as everyone reaches about the same level. You have to find your intended role and fulfill it.

Her cc + shield helps her in duels, and her passive aa procs probably add some sustained damage (which is basically tank repellent) to her burst. Not to mention her ult will increase her AD a bit, and it's an execute that's still effective if the target is low on health.

The difference between Talon and Riven is that Talon is more of a traditional assassin, and Riven is a fighter assassin.

Even if you're fed as an assassin like Talon, you shouldn't expect to 100-0 tanks. There's a reason tanks exist, and are able to tank even against fed assassins, otherwise there'd be no way to stop a snowballing champion. As for Riven, she's designed for top lane for a reason. Think of her as a reverse juggernaut.

Because sustained damage should beat tanks, especially ones that invested in CDR and penetration.

She has ADC base stats. Heaven forbid she itemizes like an ADC and kills tanks like an ADC

I've played riven vs sion had a 3 kill lead and more cs then him after he got his first item I couldn't even tickle him

She's not really an 'assassin' caster, more of a hybrid bruiser caster. No matter how well you cancel the animations, her combo does take some time compared to a true Assassin.

You wouldn't be surprised if Jax beat you down with his lamp in like 2 seconds, by the same logic you shouldn't be surprised when Riven does it.

If killing tanks is a priority, build all three, yes. Assassins are not really meant to kill tanks though.

you are playing burst champions. basically if the target doesnt die in your fast combo, then you are useless against that target. Riven is sortof not a burst champions, more sustained damage.

I dont even want to argue why this thread is shit. Its not like Tanky bulky champions already negate her laningphase or anything if played correctly, they should also take 0,0 damage and get a freewin everygame against riven,that would be balanced ofc. Holy shit bronze threads~
