Ideas for Master Yi mini-rework / with bio

Introduction

So i have an idea and I would hope everyone understand this, i am an "old" Master Yi Main and it sad to say i can barely touch him as a champion who loves and adores about him. through tough and thin this was the very first champion i have picked up when i first played this game, literally was the most fun sucking champion i had played in my life, everything about him before this season came up about him was great and even wacky at times, i know the in and outs about him and i also love how much everyone assume he nothing but a brain-dead champion like Yasuo and Fiora is. love this champions, other can assume other wise, but if you want some proof on how much i play Master Yi (not saying im a pro) please come check my score on both http://na.op.gg/summoner/champions/userName=Ars3lyn i played him a lot in norms and ranked, i started playing Yi a lot in season 6 and season 7 not so much, but before season 6 i play a huge number amount of game plays with him, having 278,361 and 32,223 totally to almost 1/3 of a million. Reason why i don't play him this season is because almost every game he a pick or steal champion and it boring to see him on the enemy team because they don't play him as a true Master Yi main. very few i seen players who know their champions for something like Master Yi. you don't trust my math? then go ahead and go to search me up in client on both accounts and do the math yourself Ars3lyn and IArs3lynI as proof of my time.

reason for mini-rework

When it comes to Master Yi ask a Skrimisher he lacks something that is a key value to being a Skrimisher, a tool to heal while in combat, now you can complain that Master builds Blade of the Ruined King and with the combo of the 10% jg item makes him slightly healthy in the jg, but when it comes to the battle there no reward system and no way for him to really survive battle.

  • for non-Rioters first before i talk about examples i wanna say the very definition of a slayer is and what it branched off to, Slayers are fragile but agile damage-focused melee champions that look to swiftly take down their targets. in this, is what we called a primary class, this is split into subclasses, the Assassins, and the Skrimishers. you all are familiar with assassins, low hp have tools to get in close and take the most high prioritize and use his tool to get right out, getting in is easy for them, but sometimes getting out isnt that easy to do when it comes to teamfights. As for Skrimishers, they lack all-in and high end burst damage that assassin has, they instead have high situational tools to help them survive in the frey of the fight, along that with the high sustain damage to cut down their most durable targets. .

  • Inconclusion, high damage champion that has a way to stay alive in battle. lets now look at the 2 most perfect ideal champions for this, Yasuo and Fiora. Yasuo and Fiora has many things in common with each other, high damage within a certain ability, such as Fiora vitals and Yasuo double crit chance, a way to sustain through the fight, aka Fiora vital passive being hit giving her small amount of hp and Yasuo Resolve passive, a way to block powerful abilities such Yasuo wind wall and Fiora Riptoste, those of course can be use to aggressively attack. in general, there should be high damage, 1 soft defense and 1 super strong defense to survive the battle.

  • back to Master Yi For Master yi he has 2 out of 3 things, a very strong ability that allows him to dodge many things and high damage, but the last one is just not in anyway makes him a skirmisher, and ill explain all about it. his Ability called (W) Meditate is an ability yi has, in the early stages of it, it heals him for a long time, allowing him recover a great amount of his HP, this ability was so strong it was put on a high cooldown because of how strong it was after a season they change it from a strong healing tool to a weak healing tool that gives armor and magic resistances with a lower cooldown, this did help him in the jg but not so much. fast forwarding to season 3 they allow damage reduction instead of magic resistance and armor but the healing being even more so lowered once again so that it less stronger once more, then once Riot realize that Master Yi needed some help because of other champions just plain out was better then him and give him a increase healing based off of his missing hp and the longer you use your W will pause his highlander, and his wuju style while stacking his double tap per second, however it wasnt very useful since most yi players still use his W to Auto Reset their Auto Attack, thus making those bonuses almost useless in battles against champions. I wanted to also say that he a bladesman not a monk, he shouldnt meditate as if he in a nice calming afternoon, instead he should learn to uses his Chi to allow him to fight more instead of sitting there and doing completely nothing, thus leads to why is so strong and unbalance, Master Yi damage sources comes from his E, rageblade, and conqueror stacking once these bad boys stacks between one an another Yi becomes this champion who can kill anyone he dam-well pleases, I like how he is and slightly like how he should be build but he shouldnt be this weak when not stacking and this strong when stacking.

My grand idea for Master Yi

Overall I want to change him to less oppressive as a "Super late gamer shredder" but instead allow improvements to his jungling and how he fights overall. this idea will make him less stronger but allows him to be the true Wuju Master he is meet to be.

Q - Alpha Strike now you may think im aiming to buff this and you are most likely right, im probably am, however it a change to certain parts of his abilities, since it not as strong as it use to be, it needs more offensive power to help lack the loss of immunity he had at the time which is now gone for a good reason too. it allow him to get away stuff that should had kill him, but since he was gone for like 0.5 to 3 seconds it makes certain things such as ignite and DoT to not affect him. giving a lower his based damage and increase his scaling because of an idea that we will discuss later on will get you to understand (Look at E Wuju style for more information)

  • Damage Change from 25 / 60 / 95 / 130 / 165 (100% Total AD) to 25 (100% total AD) / 50 (105% total AD) / 75 (110% total AD) / 100 (115% total AD) / 125 (120% total AD)

  • note: make it stronger late game but less stronger early game

  • No longer Crits for 60% total AD as bonus damage

W - Harden Chi

this is the one and only ability that will change so ill explain fully here. Master cloak himself with his chi and that vanishes in an X amount of seconds, during this time he gains damage reduction and if he Auto Attack he gain a stack of stolen chi, until an X amount of times. each stolen chi heals X amount at the end of the duration and at max stack it will slow in an small AoE around Master Yi and doing X magic damage. At max stack you can also activate Harden chi to do the explosion and healing earlier

Cooldown: 30 seconds

Magic damage: X

  • doing small magic damage to them

slow: X over 1.5 seconds

  • weak but allows him to gank and have follow ups to happening

number of hits needed: X

  • _recommended to hit around 3-4 hits to allow him to have quick engage and allow follow ups and stickiness

Damage Reduction: X/X/X/X/X

  • recommend to be way less then needed, or else tank Yi will be a thing and no one wants that

Heals per hit: X/X/X/X/X

  • _make sure it small and procs well with rageblade similar to like Twisted fate E work on rageblade and relevent scaling to like a fiora but instead scales with skill points on to his abilities instead of increasing per level, 30/35/40/45/50? or slightly higher

Max Heal:

  • _all on you Riot, make sure it not too strong but enough to be noticed like Fiora passive healing

E - Wuju Style

Not alot is changing beside how it gonna scale with it, do like how good of true damage works with Yi so i'm keeping it however he wont take advantage his passive E, stacking rageblade and conqueror with his passive E made it too much which allow yi to hit way too hard when it not needed to. thus giving a new passive that makes him more fluent and losing that AD wont be much of a stress.

cooldown increase slightly (probably by 1 or 2 seconds)

Removed Passive: Master Yi gains 10% AD as bonus attack damage while Wuju Style is not on cooldown. new Passive: Master Yi now gains 10% of his total AD as his additional physical on-hit damage while not on cooldown nor active

  • _helps him give more power to his on-hit AA while over all stopping the stacking problem Yi has

Change Active E: from deals 18 / 26 / 34 / 42 / 50 (+ 35% bonus AD) to deals 14 / 23 / 32 / 41 / 50. ( +30% bonus AD) and converts 5% of his total AD into on hit damage

  • _the second part is an option, i wanted to see the based damage being reverted so it not so strong with a certain rune allows him to sustain more and decrease the scaling a little to make it less oppressive on true damage and change that over to some physical damage on hit. it your opinion Riot

R - Highlander

There a few things to say here, thanks to a few certain items, his early game attack speed gives him too much to go for and not enough mobility to give it to, i want to reduce the attack speed and move it over to his movement speed, that way he can be more sticky like the other Skirmishers. I also want to change the passive slightly so that "Harden Chi" doesn't allow Master Yi be too tanky overall throughout the whole battlefield.

Change Passive - takedown on enemy champions refunds 70% of his Alpha Strike and Wuju Style cooldown reduction

Change active - For 7 seconds, Master Yi gains bonus attack speed, multiplies his total movement speed and becomes immune to all slows and cripples bonus attack speed from 30% / 55% / 80% to 25%/ 40%/ 65% movement speed from 25 / 35 / 45% to 30%/ 40%/ 50%

  • _not too many changes on the active but i'm making sure he not too fast and still allowing squishy champions to get distance at the right timing

Conclusion

In short Master Yi is still relevant to the game however he too strong with all this stacking he has, reducing how strong the scaling is and allow more core item powers will let him be known as a true Wuju Bladesman Master.

Any question you may ask please comment below and credit me if you are advertising my post, thanks have a wonderful time

There's a few problems with this topic.

  1. You're very inexperienced with the game to be offering such a big change to the game. Considering you're in silver (where Master Yi dominates the most) I doubt you know how to balance him.
  2. There's too much text. Consider making things short and then making a longer more explained version when people are actually interested.
  3. The abilities make no sense (I only read the W). Why would he have so much in one ability? Invisibility with a heal and a slow? Kind of overpowered if you'd ask me. If that champion had been released it would've either been total trash or way overpowered.

But! As we know Riot is fairly terrible at adjusting champions when they decide to do so. You will be a great addition to the balance team! [slayer-jinx-wink]

you saying that i made his W to be "Invisability with a heal and a slow" am i right? one thing for sure this W wont do that for one is allowing invisability, that ultimately stupid for you to pop that up. 2 each skrimisher has some type of CC, rather is a rewarding CC like Fiora and yasuo Q knock up and such, it a soft defense with a soft reward to it. this is all about mini rework and what skrimisher are, and i want to also top it up with the fact that Master is the most ban champion right now ever since i was in silver, and more often then not i been watching plenty of other streamers and even look up the wikipedia to learn everything about master yi.

you also wanna mention my ranked when the ranked system is already broke as it is, your point of view is irrelevent

We don't need more cancer in the game (invisibility, CC). It's antifun, which is what we want to take away from Master Yi. As a Silver player anything you would recommend is 90% of the times irrelevant and therefore it is pointless to take anything you say seriously. It's not personal, I wouldn't take myself seriously if I were a silver player either. You seem to talk a lot about how the ranked system is "broken" and Master Yi being banned all the time. Have you considered that it's because you're in silver? Master Yi is barely ever banned in platinum+ because they know how to play against him.

But don't worry, being silver doesn't last forever, unless you keep blaming the ranked system and the Master Yi bans for it that is... Keep on climbing! [sg-lulu]

"we don't need more cancer in this game" right as you say that they make character rework like akali who breaks towers, as much as you claim it bad and being called cancer it not really, you just cant accept change and thus have a hard time playing the game yourself

IArs3lynI1 votes

and besides, you claim as if the game is perfect and no one needs a change, yet this game over the past couple of years has change over and over and over again, as much as you claim those "Anti-fun" in this game but the main reason you claim that is because you think unique champion development isn't something that should change or fix up to place them in better spot.

since your also claiming to say Master Yi with CC is anti fun when playing as Master Yi isn't that much of a fun champion as i remember him. on top of the fact that he missing 2 key factors of being a skirmisher and your avoiding it saying Master Yi doesn't need it, but if you look at from a perspective of champions that are skirmisher, Yi became an odd-ball later on, 0 sustain and no way form of miniature reward for playing master yi. lets take all the other champions for example that shows what i mean by reward

Fiora: has a mini reward with her W and her Vital where she can block CC and redirect into a stun, does that sound cancer? yes but that has timing and coordination she need to use to make her great at her job as a skirmisher, her passive is her mini-"battle sustain" and her W is her Hard long Cooldown, damage is weak but has a way to be used offensively to create opportunity for her

Yasuo: 2 Q equal one knock up that rewards him with a powerful ult that makes him stronger, a passive shield just because he mobile and his W for that hard counter block, and just like other skrimisher it on a long cooldown

Jax: hybrid bruiser but still has core stuff like a skrimisher but also has bruiser-like defense, his passive rewards him with more attack speed, his ult rewards him armor and magic resist his Q allows him to be sticky and his E is a powerful defense that also count as his offense since it gives a stun and allows him to attack.

Master Yi now has his Q, a powerful defense tool that is being lowered thanks to his AA, but since riot wants to nerf the invincibility on it that it use to have, his Q now just a blink that makes him gapclose for a few seconds, his "soft defense" is his useless W that only use when he Jungle clearing his first 2 waves of monsters, the only thing that is great about him is his super high unnecessary damage which is why he assumed relevant. Because of his high damage, he loses the very factor of being what he suppose to be, a skirmisher. now you can say what you want like i said but you have no physical proof that yi is relevent beside his high useless damage.

i realize that i wrong what i ment the wrong way, Vanish wasnt ment to be meaning as his he goes invisable, but rather his cloak of chi he gains goes away in a few seconds, my apologies, i just read it now and ill fix what i ment

Edit: to make it simple it a mobility damage reduction chi that allows him to steal others chi to regain his hp and slows them down at max stack of chi stolen

You seem to like to write a lot. [sg-zephyr]

Master Yi needs a good rework but your idea is far from it. I assume most Master Yi mains agree that you don't require crowd control in your kit to make your champion valuable. Look at champions like Ezreal, Vladimir, old Akali, they have little to no CC but had times where they were amazing to play.

We don't need CC, the problem with Master Yi isn't rocket science. Master Yi was made at the time where (some) junglers used to power farm for 20 minutes and then come out fully farmed and "better jungler wins". With the recent jungle changes it is impossible to "just farm, don't gank" anymore, you're forced to gank. Master Yi has a hard time ganking without CC, but that doesn't mean giving him CC will solve that issue. Master Yi needs the ability to power farm like before, roll back the jungle changes and we will be back to normal.

But as we know Riot, they'll do anything to prove they're not wrong and everything is part of the plan. Their ignorance is the only thing that's bringing this game down. You can see it with the recent tank buffs, unrelated I know, but if you look at tanks you'll see that they're the least fun champions to play yet they give the biggest reward for the least of risks. Are you doing badly with a tank? Don't worry you have utility. Are you doing badly with a fighter? Time to FF! [slayer-jinx-unamused]
