I feel absolutely useless when I get behind as Sona

In a world where the newer supports and support reworks have hard CC on basic abilities, invulnerability everywhere, and extremely high bases, I honestly feel as if there is nothing I can do impactfully on Sona to actually carry my team back from a game that isn't going our way, and it really hurts me man

Some champions are worse when they fall behind Some champions are not That's OK Because it's OK to be different.

And Sona snowballs harder than other supports. What's your point?

You can blame her terrible rework for that

She still deserves a fallback pattern though, like every other champion

Her rework turned a support champion into a cheesy AP poke bot who builds like a mage instead of actual support items

Totally a fixed champ amirite

Her rework turned a boring samey champion picked to stand around and give free stats for no effort into a unique hybrid poke/support with a more concrete niche, clear synergies, and greater expression of skill and mastery.

Totally a fixed champ amirite

Yup

So you're completely ok with Sona, a champion who is designed as a support, to build item 3100 item 3285 item 3089 every game, completely ignore support items, only be picked for her Q to burst people down, and have no type of fallback pattern, which SUPPORTS are supposed to have, may I remind you, more than a one and a half second stun on her most impactful abilitiy, so she can actually come back for her team, be extremely feast or famine, and need to have multiple things made to synergize with her kit to buff her instead of touching her kit directly, because her new kit is apparently that annoying to play against?

This sounds healthy to you?

She is not only picked for her burst, she has fallback patterns which I already clearly spelled out for you but you chose to ignore.

Being more feast/famine than some supports is perfectly fine (although I wouldn't call it extreme, I'd reserve that word for champions like Leona). Focusing on damage items is perfectly fine. Building items that synergize with her kit is perfectly fine (what champions don't like building items that synergize with their kits?).

There are lots of champions out there that focus on building utility items to supplement their high utility and low damage potential. Perhaps you should try playing Nami or Janna since Sona's playstyle doesn't seem to fit with you instead of trying to beg Riot to change her into a champion you want to play at the expense of people who actually enjoy current Sona.

Meanwhile Sona was changed at the expense of people who enjoyed old Sona

Even though the rework highly displeased the community

Not really. The only fun thing about old Sona's kit was also her power chord burst, it's just that it was too risky a pattern to focus on finding opportunities to use it instead of standing there handing out free AD/AP so your team can win the fight with an invisible gold advantage.

I'm guessing you didn't see the huge outrage that happened about Sona's rework?

Someone always complains about something. The outrage over Sona was not that significant and consisted of claims that her output numbers were nerfed rather than there being any kind of fundamental changes to her playstyle. And of course these claims turned out to be false as Sona continued to (and still continues to) have a solid winrate at all elos.

its garbage and he could never carry a game with that build he has to rely on his team to carry him they didnt win the team because he was cheerleader sona

they won the game because they were going to win regardless of who the support was

Sona is an AP carry support and like all the others in that category you have to get an early lead to be have a real impact. My advice is to play supports that don't need items as badly to scale.

Roam around putting up wards as much as possible, with recalling often when you run out. Wait for the most opportune chances to flash ult and you can still have a big impact even if your other abilities don't do much. And if you get items like locket and mikael's you'll be able to help even if you're standing back where it's safe.
