Can someone explain Normal game Matchmaking to me?

Is it literally just completely random? do they slap anyone together and call it a day? last time i played ranked i got placed in silver and just last night in 1 game my team was 1 bronze player, 1 silver(me), 1 gold, 1 plat, and 1 diamond vs 2 diamond, 2 silver, and a gold player. Thats is how the matchmaking was for me all last night and it was the worst shit ever. Do normals not have any mmr anymore? does ranked mmr have no effect on norm mmr( because it should)? i have no idea why this is happening to my games now. its like when ranked goes down, and when ranked goes down i usually just cant play the game unless i want to be stomped out by diamond rengar when im just trying to play garen for fun in a normal game.

Im about to be a twisted treeline only player because playing in these games is just brutal.

Normal games match you more or less exactly the same as ranked, using a hidden MMR.

Every queue has its own matchmaking, so what you see in normals will not reflect ranked at all. I see far better players in normal SR than i do in ranked, and something in between on treeline.

There's no ranked restrictions in normals, right? And you want that because people want to play with their friends and it's normals. So what do you do when a diamond player wants to play with his friends who are diamond and 2 silvers and one of them want to invite their friend who is gold?

Normal games have there own MMR seperate from ranked. so a diamond ranked player can have the same MMR as a bronze ranked player in Normals, because there normals MRR is the same or similar.

take myself of example, I rarely play normals, but when I do its against low ranked or unranked players cause my normals MMR is pretty low.

So remember that a players Rank doesnt mean shit in normals.

Like others mentioned its got its own MMR, the only way to build that is to play it.

Whats not being mentioned enough, how Duo and grouping with friends affects MMR for a team and throws off MMR balance.

End result, High skill players who only que with hommies can have really low normal MMR and its gonna suck.
