Impossible to counterplay? Pls explain

Just played a game against an enemy Rengar.

https://imgur.com/K9u0PCn

There are a couple things about this that aren't okay:

A) Rengar did 1600 dmg in less than 1 second.

B) He tower dove me and there was nothing I could do about it because he was INVISIBLE until he jumped me. So, it didn't even matter that I was under turret.

C) He did almost 900 dmg in just 1 auto attack.

D) He did 300 dmg from nothing???? Pls explain. What even is this?? Why does it exist?

How is anyone supposed to stop this from happening? Even under your own turret where invisible enemies should be VISIBLE? How can I stop him when he can kill me in less time than it takes to blink an eye? I didn't even have enough time to react, let alone fight back.

EDIT: Should I also mention that there were many times where we would all stick together as a group, knowing full well that when Rengar ulted he was either going to go for me ( the ADC ) or orianna ( the mid laner ) .76 seconds isn't enough time for any human to react and completely stop a Rengar from murdering someone that only has 1400 HP. Even if we would be able to kill him easily after the fact, he managed to kill one of the carries every single time despite our best efforts.

The real answer to this is don't be alone against a Rengar who is almost full built when you are a squishy.

If you have someone else with you, 2 things happen. One, you CC him out of his leap from stealth (tricky, takes timing, but very doable). Or, two, you have a tank with you that body blocks the leap (he can only leap the closest target, and it shows with a symbol above your head).

generally agree, but I don't think Rengar is as broken as Kha'zix in this regard, and it's more or less what's happening with Zed too.

Kha'zix is the sleeper strongest champ in the game (people with over 200 games on him have a 60% win rate; he's only dragged down by the skill competence of those who average 7.25 games on him). He also ranks #1 in kills and various other metrics are close to 1.

Rengar's a similar beast, but his kit is far more avoidable/zoneable. Rengar = both vision and Armor = pretty good damage reduction to prevent that first burst. But Kha's late game first burst does OVERKILL damage which means even with Armor he kills you.

Rengar is the champion that jg boosters, and high elo jg players use to climb, his counter is not being anywhere near him, and low elo tends to have squishier comps. I agree that at lower skill points, rengar is abusive.

That blank damage window comes from item 3147.

The damage shown by basic attacks comes from all basic attacks that the champion dealt so it doesn't necessarily mean 1 and only 1 auto attack.

I mean if the ask the question "whats the counterplay to any champ with 22 kills" theres not going to be much. You're going to die lol. He was hyperfed and probably 3-4 levels ahead of you.

I love how you neglect telling us that he had 22 kills lmao

I just want to know why Riot believes this is balanced. At least make the CD on his ult longer, it seemed to feel like it had less than a 30sec CD. And anyway, if I'm under tower and he can literally jump from invisibility onto me without ever giving me vision of him while under the turret, how is that even fair? How could I be expected to stop him or save myself? ( I wasn't even positive that he was going after me, because there was another fight near the bot side inhibitor so how was I supposed to know if he was going after me or Orianna? It was just a guessing game at that point. ) I didn't even have enough time to flash, heal or ult before I was completely deleted while under my own turret.

I find this quite funny actually. The whole purpose of the last assassin patch from Riot was to increase the length of time it takes for an assassin to do their burst damage. They completely destroyed LB by increasing her burst damage and they made Talon's W have a delay before it returns. Those are the only two champions that they changed. Fizz: doesn't matter if he feeds early game because come level 6 he will just ult you and instakill you. Zed: they didn't change anything. Kha'Zix: basically changed nothing, his evolved Q does major damage. Rengar: only changed his ult. So why did LB's kit get annihilated and Riot left the other assassins the same?

I could imagine the horror of facing a fed Rengar before patch 4.5 when his ult didn’ even have a warning mark and his q proced on turrets

zoe deals more damage with only morello

Khazix does more to squishies lol You can get blown up from max HP at level 18 by one leap+AA.

The best counterplay to playing vs Rengar is just banning him :P. Usually though, to live against rengar you need to have a support near you who has a lot of support items and shields which are mainly just enchanter supports. Building item 3047 or item 3026 as an ad champ or item 3157 as a mage can help. However, Rengar is overtuned atm with the new runes and the lower armor on mages (it has a small impact). item 3147 is also too strong right now. I hate playing vs Rengar and I honestly think he needs another rework. If you just revert him he will do about the same 1 shot so it doesn't really solve his issues.
