Some sort of ban reset for extended periods of good behavior
I'm sure a lot of people are going to flame me for this, and it's probably already been suggested, but as someone who has proudly owned their League account since the day they started playing back in mid-season 2, I believe there should be some sort of soft ban reset for extended periods of good behavior.
Yes, I've had my account banned before, but I've had this account for so long that I can't even recall the first time it happened.
There is some sort of fake reward for having "good behavior" but does this good behavior mean anything when there is the possibility of the account being permanently banned due to a period of bad behavior? not everyone can be perfect all of the time and mistakes are likely to happen, despite the vast majority of the time being generally good or neutral behavior.
I constantly have this dreading feeling that my account is going to be taken away if I have a single bad behavior game ( mind you, I hardly ever consider my behavior that bad even in the worst of times ), no matter how often I usually have good ( even honored ) games.
anyways, this isn't really about me. it's just a suggestion. should long periods of good behavior be more rewarded, with the possibility of one day dropping off one, or all, previous bans? it could even be based off of the activity of the account, to prevent people from just logging off for months on end waiting for a ban to drop off.
I just feel like maybe there should be some kind of drop off for bans, either through hard work, time, effort and reformation. having your account for 6 years or more, you're bound to have quite a few bad behavior games. but I feel like the consequences of those few games shouldn't outweigh the vast majority of good behavior games, with the ultimate penalty being to have your account permanently banned after three strikes. three strikes over the course of 6+ years? can there be a little more wiggle room? especially for those that are very active, and have had their accounts for very long periods of time? surely, if you've had the account this long and haven't been permanently banned already, despite being an active player, then you really aren't a bad person.
so in short, here is my suggestion:
- long, extended periods of good behavior should warrant some sort of ban drop off ( so long as the account is active )
- the periods of time between bad behaviors should be based on how long the account has existed
- reformation and effort to correct behavior should be recognized and allow ban penalties to either drop off or adjust accordingly
the three strike rule feels like it mostly only accommodates those that are consistently toxic over a short period of time ( ex: 1-2 years ) but it isn't really as fair to those that have had their accounts for 5+ years. it feels like the longer you've had the account, the more dire the consequences become if you make a mistake, have a streak of bad games, and so on. so, perhaps if the player has gone, lets say, a year without having any sort of bad streak of behavior, shouldn't that be rewarded with a ban drop off? or at the very least, the consequences of the ban to be less harsh? I feel like this would cause people to strive for good behavior much more, knowing that they can actually reform, and NOT lose their account if they had a bad streak.
