Kassadin

Kassadin no longer has silence, also has reduced ult range. That's ok. What's not ok, is his shield only blocks magic damage. What's up with that?

That and he is weak. Low damage moves not good ratios, long cds high mana cost and yes I'm looking at you his ultimate. Ohh yes a 800 cost move that doesn't do the much

Kassadin's ult at 800 cost:

Maximum magic damage: 240 / 300 / 360 (+ 60% AP) (+ 6% maximum mana)

Cooldown: 6 / 4 / 2 seconds

LeBlanc's Distortion

Magic Damage: 85 / 125 / 165 / 205 / 245 (+ 60% AP)

Cooldown: 18 / 16 / 14 / 12 / 10 seconds

COST: 80 / 85 / 90 / 95 / 100 mana

Tell me how fair it would be to be hit by a better version (by a lot in terms of damage) of Leblanc's distortion every two (without counting cooldown reduction) seconds?

Also , I believe I can skip the refunding missing mana part of his W , which is quintupled against champions!

If is anything weak about Kassadin's kit , it isn't his ult... His ult is one of the main reasons anyone plays him , if they just wanted to dash and be the juke master , or deal enormous amounts of damage in one second , they should better play Leblanc , Fizz , Zed and any assassin who doesn't want to hyper carry into the late game.

Considering leblanc's q and e actually does damage I would rather be playing leblanc

It also doesn't cost 800 mana for ~100 damage increase

Taking in account he usually has 3k Max mana at that point of the game , and with his W , he can easily sneak 4 Max cost ults.

I give you the point of Leblanc having her Q , but her E isn't as reliable as any other ability Kassadin has.

And that 100 damage increase is counting only its base damage , not the + 6% maximum mana bonus damage , that in our case means at least 180+ damage. So overall , +280 damage at least.

And the joke with 'he doesn't have any damage' doesn't really work when a champ has all the damage reliable. A fed Lux can have the highest damage in the game , but if she misses her skills , she can be easily considered dead. A fed Kassadin can get to the point of just jumping on you like an Akali , not really giving you any option but fight.

Well the original idea was that he was supposed to be an anti-mage, hence only blocking magic damage

It's disappointing too, since his new skin looks really awesome.

It was my 1st time Kassadin using Kassadin in awhile and even though I knew he didn't have silence, for some odd reason I still stood inside of Nunu's ult and casted a Q... very freaking bad idea! The magic shield was not enough lol

Ralanr1 votes

But wouldn't your Q have canceled his ult?

Ferrous Oxide1 votes

cancelling a nunu ult just causes it to go off at whatever point it was canceled at, so between how long it was already channeled + the time it took kass to get in range + the cast time on Q + the travel time on Q, it was probably already channeled for like 2 seconds so thats still about 900-1000 damage.

In my opinion , in a classical Kassadin VS melee AD assassins matchup , he traded his silence for his W , which rewards him with higher amounts of damage against his enemies.

I admit it would be interesting to,have it shield both kinds of damage , but as some other people mentioned a long time ago , it would make his early game much easier , and give him an easier time VS AD damage dealers in the late game.

But if they are the problem , I think a small buff to his scaling armor will do the trick :)

After his last damage and cooldown reduction buff to his R , I found him much more rewarding when he is going all-in than when he had his old-long range ult.

Yeah, his damage output is incredible, but I don't see him being an option against mid lane ad assassins like Yasuo or Talon

I admit both of them are having respectable amounts of damage, so i start cloth armor + 5 health pots.

Kassadin vs Talon is a difficult matchup , but if you play around his power spikes ( any major armor penetration item ) you will be safe , so it is all up to your jungles if you want kills , he is easy to gank(with proper positioning) until level 6. And I'm sorry to say that , but I rarely see Talon players. He is an amazing champ , but he is picked only when he has synergy with his team comp , or as a counter pick/skill mathcup( Talon vs Zed :3 ).

I sometimes use Kassadin to counter Yasuo . Yasuo has an annoying , but manageable early game. As Kassadin , you have to trade always around your cooldowns. Try to trade only when your Q and W are ready , and when he has his passive shield , you try to bait him making him thinking you want to use your Q , but you use your E. And in an all-in , your Kassadin will be superior because of your cloth armor and pots. Yaqui has dangerous power spikes when he gets his core items ( shiv , infinity ). If he gets shiv , it will just be easier for you to go kill him , if he picks defensive items , he will have much lower damage and he will have problems against powerful pushes( you , teamwork :D ).

In my opinion , I don't really pick Kassadin to carry , I pick him for securing the game . He is decent early game , but when he is ahead , he can be a pain. Most of the times when I get a kill , I will pressure so much my enemy , that the enemy should stay under the turret!

He is just my favorite champion , and I know that any buff to his early will lead to another round of "LCS Kassawin" just because the pro players can make comps where they cover his weaknesses , but they can't really cover his weak laning phase against some champions. When he will be played again by the pros , he will be nerfed back to his weaker status. If is there a buff that can help him , it would be something like increased scaling per level stats( health , armor or something else ).

Edit: I agree with you that his shield feels weird from time to time , but it is understandable why they didn't want it to be a great shield.

CAn't speak for Talon but Kassadin is actually extremely strong vs Yasuo. Level your E first. He spams his Q so much it auto-charges it and his wall doesn't block E since it doesn't count as a projectile (last I checked.) even so the only thing he can really do is block your Q which isn't a big deal and considering you rift walk on his face to trade and slow him for 90%...

It's odd perhaps but trust me: He utterly destroys yas in lane.

Lugg1 votes

He's an anti mage assassin. That's why it only blocks magic.

360D3GR3SS1 votes

He does a poor job of dealing with mages and assassination. He is slightly favored in the lanning phase vs mages due to his passive and Q but is outclassed by mages with any form of hard cc.

Ralanr1 votes

Good uses of his ult and passive make him laugh at other mages.

Skias1 votes

If anything, he could use a slightly higher range on his ult or a reduction to its cd, since it costs a shitton.

Try Building him different

I go item 3070 immediately into item 3003 then item 3027 when the item 3003 finishes I get another item 3070 then item 3025 and item 3110 and lastly finishitem 3004

Use Mana per level Glyphs Mana per Level Quints Armor Seals MR Pen Marks

Full damage from this build is 3760

Full Damage from his standard build is 2875

This build is also almost 2K cheaper than his standard build, and allows him to use his full charged ult 7 times, and thats if he doesnt gain back mana with his W. (For reference if you hit a champ with your W after having ulted 9 times with my build you would regain 1900 MP)

Yes I know, even though the base damage of my build is higher, his normal build has more magic pen, which means even though the number is lower it will deal more damage, my build deals mixed physical and magic damage with muramana. Thanks to Kassadins low cooldown ult, free to cast mana refunding W and tear + ROAs high mana regen stacking two tears is easy to do by the 25-30 minute mark. The 5600 mana means his Seraphs gives him an absolutely massive shield + having 240 armor and taking 15% reduced magic damage makes him tanky as hell, and able to stay in the middle of a fight with almost the highest base attack speed in the game. With Muramana active, each auto will deal about 562 damage thanks to it giving a large 95 AD on its own + its rediculous toggle.

Remember, you are a late game assassin, your early game laning is crap, focus on stacking and getting whatever farm you can, this build focuses on losing a little damage in exchange for a huge amount of utility in his ult and staying power in a fight, his ability to go in and out of a fight at a moments notice without even getting close to running out of mana is what makes this build strong. Let your true tank initiate the fight and eat any CC then go in with your finger on Seraphs, blast everything you can on a squishy target so they arent resisting a lot of your damage because of your low penetration stats, the moment your ult is back up get out. Try to keep your ult max stacked to deal the most amount of damage possible.
