Dynamic queue overreaction?

Electric Buyers··4 votes·539 views

Are the players still "overreacting" to dynamic queue? I understand that Riot has a different understanding when it comes to certain changes. I know that the community definitely does have a history of overreacting when a drastic change is made. But the community has pretty unanimously been against Dynamic Queue for months now. I have yet to see a post favoring dynamic queue that doesn't get downvoted into oblivion. As far as I know, part of the reason dynamic queue was created was to shorten queue times, which does not seem to be the case currently. As far as playing with friends was concerned, there was a perfectly functional system in place beforehand. And as far as the trolls are concerned, I don't feel this to be the case currently either. Am I missing something here? I am not bashing Riot's decision to try and do what is best for the community and stand behind them as a company that is doing what it can for its millions of fans. Is Riot planning to tweak dynamic queue further? Implement supplementary systems to make it a more enjoyable experience? What are your thoughts reader?

I'm fine with the balance direction but it's hard to take this game seriously in the absence of SQ. I used to really care about ranked and try hard because I could say for sure that I was responsible for my own climbing. Now, games are way higher variance and determined more by the better trio etc. than individual play. You can still carry and do well but no one even knows if you did it yourself or got carried by some 4 man etc. There's just way too much ambiguity in the rankings and they've become less reflective of individual skill even for players of the same rank. I've lost pretty much all respect for this game as a competitive endeavor (outside of pro play). If Riot doesn't care about competitive integrity, then why should I? So I've stopped caring about this game.

Those are some very interesting points. I would agree that when you won a game of solo q, it was very much a testament to your skill as a solo player against other solo players. Now granted, this is in fact a team game, the solo q experience just felt so fair. Thanks for the input!

Sure it's a team game and it's never a 1-man carry but you knew that at most, whoever gets a ranking (barring cheating etc.) was duoing. Now they could even 5 man and spam one comp. and strategy every game like mindless parrots and it's just so much easier to get carried by smurfs or even normal players with good communication. You can no longer compare players of the same ranking and say which one is better in a realistic way without knowing their queue configurations.

You have to remember, League as a premade team is an entirely different game than league with random solo's. Of course, we did have a gamemode for people whom wanted to go that route cough R5s Cough. But instead of reworking that, they remove the fairly balanced solo q ladder and leave it at that.

We're probably not living in the same world, you and I...

No.

Dynamic was created for pushing group play.

Since, if someone play with firends, he's more likely to $$$ for skins/champs/whatever.

That's all, this is the new "direction" of lol, see also the pushing of keys/chest/bonus/stuff for premades.

Dynamic Q > Solo Q

Solo Q: spend months swinging up and down relative to where you start because you can't Carry 4 strangers

Dynamic Q: Build a proper team, train, learn to work as a team... prevail and climb in a reasonable time

We had that already. It was called RANKED 5s YOU FUCKING PRICK.

It doesn't have to be 5 people. Dynamic Q allows for 3 people pre-mades too. Its far more flexible.

I see what you mean. The problem however, is that with 4 random strangers, the system isn't as easily abused as it is now. As a person who does in fact prefer to play solo, it can get a little frustrating to play against 3 - 5 people who are all in the same voice call. If the system was against 5 random people and with 4 randoms on your team, the play experience for both teams is basically equal. At least this is what I have seen and experienced so far.

I never felt like I was at a disadvantage playing with people who were on voice chat with me excluded.

I also think its really easy to get Allies under the new system. Just prove your worth in a game as a Solo player and you instantly get tons of people asking to Party with you next game. Pretty soon, you have a long list of reliable allies to team up with every time you log on.

I've been having a great time climbing in Dynamic and ALL of my Allies are strangers I've met while starting out Solo. I don't voice chat with them at all and we still work really well together.

For Bronze/Silver (most of the community), a negative impact due to Dynamic Queue isn't noticeable. I'd contend that the negative impact at this level is due to placements being screwy for new players to ranked as more people try ranked for the first time.

Silver and Bronze games have always been highly reliant on which team has the most idiots. I've had games where a Solo player went 0/13/0 (and not intentionally feeding...), destroying almost any chance we had on their own. Premades you didn't construct don't significantly increase or decrease the amount of idiots.

My wife and I had several experiences last season where we'd be duoing and someone would think one of us was duoed with another player on the team because of how we synergized with them. I've had Solo Junglers that I've synergized better with than my own best friend. These experiences, working extremely well with randoms, continue to happen this season.

Dynamic Queue is the scapegoat people are throwing around for why they aren't Challenger. Most of the community isn't skilled enough for it to be a problem for or against them.

See that is the interesting thing. I find a lot of pro players are mentioning that people are abusing dynamic queue to actually become challenger. They say things like "WHAT!? How is THIS guy challenger!?" The higher you go, the less your solo efforts matter it seems. So if I get to gold just queuing solo, (which isn't really difficult) that is great, but knowing that I will plateau because I prefer to play solo is sort of disheartening. Kinda makes me not want to play ranked at all. But those are just my thoughts. Thanks for the input Doc!!
