Why dont you just rename "Bot" to "ADC" in new Champ Select?

This wording almost makes you think that there is an actual chance of having no ADC next to your support, which we all know would be a completely ridiculous idea.

Because Riot doesn't want to force the bot lane carry to be an ADC. If a sufficient strategy ever emerges that allowed APC to go bot, it would be kinda weird to select 'ADC' role and then pick a mage to that position.

Except that would never be allowed to happen. As soon as such a strategy came about whatever made it strong would be nerfed.

You do realize that it wasn't always ADC+support?

Riot isn't really enforcing the ADC+support thing all too much anymore. Zeke's herald is friendly on an APC (especially since more crit options are coming soon), Mordekaiser's rework. It's not that they don't allow it, just nothing has came up to replace it quite yet.

After all, it used to be ADC mid and APC+Support bot lane. If the meta shifts, Riot would likely be fine with it. It wouldn't be nerfed to enforce ADC+Support bot lane like it's some kind of law of the game.

Otherwise Vayne/Quinn top would have been nerfed. And Kindred wouldn't be made for the jungle. It'd be horrible design philosophy to balance bot lane to only have ADC's bot lane, and still let them lane everywhere else.

Yes it always was, you're talking about a time before rank was ever added, where people generally did what ever they wanted because nothing was defined. Ever since rank was a thing bot lane has been dominated by ranged adc.

ADC means AD Carry. Tryndamere is an ADC. Yasuo is an ADC, some others are too. I just wish Riot would make them viable bot lane. Also it shouldn't be only AD, AP should be viable there too. It sucks having to pick AD mid laner, if you don't have AP top or jungle.
