Maybe it's just me, but isn't League a bit fucked up currently?

Stiv1234··88 votes·5,605 views

Like, a big bit? I know, it is (still) preseason, but we're damn near the beginning of the season and it feels like a lot of things are going wrong. Theres Frostqueens chilling around in mid lane, Guinsoos (sometimes with Devourer) screwing up games here and there, Rengar pissing people off like few things before. The new Essence Reaver singlehandedly breaks Lucian MissFortune Ezreal with his retarded 30% CDR and the ADC overhaul put them into a not so healthy place in general. Meanwhile half of the masteries are highly situational and break the 3 champs who synergize with it while being useless on all of the other ones. I mean, I have seen Devourer Warwick, Cinderhulk Sejuani, Sated Yi, the Juggernauts, Ryze shortly after his rework, but it never felt as bad as it does right now. Losing games is rarely fun, but at the moment even the wins piss me off more often than not. Am I the only one who thinks like this?

Welcome to preseason, where Riot intentionally fucks up their game and spends the entirely of the actual season fixing it, only to fuck it up next year.

Stop playing while you still have sanity.

Well to be fair, many of their innovations and changes have been good (e.g. the massive changes to the jungle last year). And as annoying as it may be, Riot arguably needs to keep upsetting the game in order to prevent stagnation. Just food for thought.

I think you guys just fail to realize in every version of the game something WILL be stronger than something else at any given point just accept what is good right now and you will be better off things change all the time.

Remember meta's when jinx, pantheon, leblanc, and ahri were perma bans and right now those champions are hardly played at all.

I think the community suffers from remembering that the game will be patched and rebalanced so what if something is a little (or a lot) too strong right now it WILL change. Just get over it play what you do well with.

That may be true but we have a lot of half cooked things floating around and patches are coming really Slowly. He has a right to be concerned.

I remember old times in season 1 where only 1 or 2 champions were op and that's it. And you could play nearly any champion in any lane.

It's about time caster adcs had competitive itemization instead of simply using the same items as normal adcs, just worse.

The Soulforged5 votes

I'm alright with caster adc items, but why does it have to come with so much damn crit?

Keevalroy6 votes

Nah you're just not accepting change like Riot wants you to. According to them, everything is going great, and the preseason is going in the "right direction."

I think matches became shorter, and it's harder to fight if u have 15-20 teamkill difference. Now skill at that point means nothing. I mean it's much easier to know who will win.

The game is REALLY snowbally fast. Top gets 2 kills and its over at 5-8m

Coming back from being behind is REALLY hard right now and wastes 15m of each players time currently.

Yeah, that's sorta the point. If you get outplayed early, the enemy team should have an advantage over you later unless they mess up worse then you did and allow you to come back.

It used to be that certain team comps could make comebacks thanks to inherent scaling.

The thing is now that gold scaling basically trumps everything else unless you're Vayne or Veigar.

So is this entire fucking preseason and the direction Riot in their infinite detached ignorance wants to take League in at the expense of the playerbase who suffers from the idiotic changes that weren't wanted, failed, and were left to fester as they convinced themselves everything is fantastic.

Alongside your comment has anyone else noticed that armor does virtually nothing anymore, i mean its hard to remember the last time armor was extremely effective for the cost i spend on it but still. The other day i was playing poppy with somewhere around 400 armor and 3khealth and i was seeing people tear through me just as fast as the rest of my team, like is there really any reason to not go a damage build since tank items don't give survive-ability.

That happens when u try to buff a mandatory class like adcs, u need to ruin the entire game

Meep Man3 votes

Select things need changes and they ARENT getting changes, like Guinsoo's and such. Once they are changed, we are actually in about the same and set up to be better position than Season 5 in my opinion.

Some things need to be toned down and some new mechanic changes tuned.

Vekkna3 votes

They've already gutted the mage item because 1 patch with a good item was long enough. And they're buffing AD again with that ridiculous assassin item.

Par for the course.

Blue Moon Wolf3 votes

I think part of the problem is that how long it takes for them to finish projects they are working on. They just mentioned that the Immobile mage update is going to take a long time and at the earliest is going to be up by mid season. meanwhile they have other classes that are in need, but only one will get the spot for the next update, which at this rate will be done by snowdown 2016. Then if Poppy is any indication, we might not see the Taric relaunch till right before or after worlds at the earliest while Urgot and Yorick are still twiddling their thumbs waiting for 2017 - 2018 to roll by. Don't even get me started on the lore, I'm still waiting for them to realize they need something like the institute of war if they don't want to redo a good handful of champ lores from the ground up. I don't wish to rush them, especially since I can understand the problems that come up with this stuff (bugs, writers block, hired/fired/quitting employees, etc). But this game will never get anywhere if they don't get to a point when they can finish projects under 4 months (excluding reworks since it seems they do work on one champ, but brainstorm ideas for other reworks in the process).

Let's not forget about our wonderful friends in the top lane...

Fiora : When you feel like Vayne doesn't kill tanks fast enough.

Illaoi : Tanky AD Heimerdinger.

Darius Garen : Because building a Phage should make you harder to kill than a tank. TahmKench : I didn't need 32% of my HP anyway.

Jax : Ditch top lane once he finishes Guinsoo's. Even if I'm super ahead.

Irelia : Let's skip this one.

Gangplank : When counterplay became "hope he's not good at the champion."

Poppy : The day ganks became a waste of time.

Riven : Ironically the most balanced champion on this list.

kasfas1 votes

Actually, if you play gp enough, you learn the barrel health timers and his q projectile travel time, so you can disarm his barrels really easily, even as a melee champ. Have done this before with sion, poppy and Darius.

Melledoneus1 votes

Please teach me, because later on he sets up multiple barrels and detonates them in seconds without me being able to do anything.

kasfas1 votes

It's partially mind games and exploiting GP's gameplay patterns. GP will near always try to setup 2 barrels to hit you to get longer range poke, so after he places his first barrel, go up to it and attack it at the last tick before he shoots it. His q has travel time (cuz it's a projectile) so a melee auto arrives on the barrel before the q when done properly. If the GP q's the barrel BEFORE it has 1 hp left and doesn't know it's travel speed, he'll waste his q and you can kill all his barrels for free. If he qs it at just the right time he can still hit you though so be careful.

You really need to play and learn him yourself to get the timings right.

Take this with a grain of salt though, sometimes it's better to just not get close to his barrels if his first placed barrel is in a safe spot Ex: behind the 5k 200 armor 170 mr sion with his q on you.

I could show you in-game, but you need to own him, and at least one other melee & ranged champion.

BTW, his counter play is know the champion better than your opponent (or at least how to work his barrels).

Melledoneus1 votes

Wait, so his counterplay is literally "be better than your opponent at GP?" Well, I tried.

Jokes aside, I feel like his barrels' range need to be reduced. When I'm playing Sion or someone with a slow auto, it's hard to hit the barrel before GP puts another down and detonates it from one he put in the bush.

kasfas1 votes

It's at that point you need to play differently, if there's one in the bush, either ward it and kill it, or move towards your (hopefully) warded river out of range of it. A secondary strategy is to stand away from your minions so he can't cs and harass at the same time, reducing the effectiveness of his ult significantly. Also, in lane he generally maxes q, meaning his barrel charge time is really low, so if he uses barrels to clear wave or farm, it's easy harass time.

Too old for this3 votes

Masteries are off imo. Thunderlords seems to rule them all with others being pretty much specific champion oriented. I am using Windspeakers' Blessing on Alistar along with item 3504. This combination alone makes your other 4 team significantly buffed during a team fight (lets not even go into other possible buffs from other items you are able to provide). Even though this mastery was nerfed and is not that used across the board, as Alistar main I can safely say that this is the way to go when you play him as support. Many take Bond of Stone (I hope I didn't fuck up the name of the mastery) but that is inferior on him compared to WB. The reason I say this is to point out that there are other broken stuff that people are only first to discover once Thunderlords finally gets toned down (nerfed).

That a side, it really feels that pretty much anyone can get out of control fast and snowball the game. So far it looks to be a contest between teams who will get to snowball point first. Comebacks seem to be much more rare now. To me it looks like if Riot is going with "if everyone is OP then nobody is OP" philosophy.

AbyssionKnight2 votes

I think the issue isn't even those things as much as it is the ability to snowball. Pretty much every game I've played, regardless of whether or not it contained 'broken' champion/item combos was lopsided. One team got ahead, and then it just wildly snowballed out of control.

I don't know if the minion changes are having that huge of an impact, if they tweaked match making and messed up or what, but all my games are wild snowballs. As you know, a snowbally game tends to be one that makes your enemies seem a lot more powerful than they actually are. So that might be a part of why some of these champ and item combos are so powerful. They're a set up that lets them start the snowball reliably, which lets them brute force things and makes the combo seem more powerful than it actually is.

Pandemic Punch2 votes

The vision changes are odd. Minion pushing needs to go. A Support item in the mid lane is pretty weird. Nearly every scaling champion got thrown in the garbage can.

I can deal with shifting metas. I love constant changes. However, the game is in a state right now where it is possible to have the game decided in 12 minutes. That alone makes it feel like half of the game's features were taken away. I don't know. It just feels weird to play and I have found myself playing way less often.

Final points...

I think MF's ult wouldn't be so annoying if it wasn't up every 45 seconds. Needs a longer CD imo.

My biggest concern is the keystone masteries. They were pretty much all OP. Now instead of the crit mastery on everyone, we see Thunderlord's on everyone. When 10/10 champs are taking thunderlord's, something is wrong. If you see a Soraka or Sona, then you might see Windspeaker's.

You can push your advantage better than ever before. That's just how it is.

Reaver and Rengar are currently subject to a mindless circlejerk, sooo don't. The masteries are fine.

I was lazy, other Keystone masteries are getting buffed, the mastery tree "roots" are getting fleshed out too.
