PSA: If your jungler gets invaded, get your ass out of your lane and help him

Stiv1234··246 votes·11,605 views
  1. Your team will likely get a kill out of it
  2. The enemy jungler is put behind (= less ganks forthe enemy)
  3. Your jungler is NOT put behind (= more ganks for you)
  4. "but muh i lose farm" -- if every jungler said that, nobody would ever get a gank

TL;DR: If you want your jungler to help you, give him a reason and the opportunity to do so.

  1. give him a good, dedicated leash and FUCKING USE AN ABILITY FOR IT ASWELL IF YOU GOT ONE

  2. place your wards at 1:30-1:35 so hes safe against invades. he needs his own ward for his second buff.

  3. your jungler is not your bitch. his job isnt ganking for you, his job is the same as everyone else: control his lane and get strong. if you dont help him, dont expect him to help you ever.

Playing as a tank (either top / support) I always try to tank at least 1 or 2 monster hits. But the Mundos that throw a cleaver at the camp and then go to lane really trigger me.

The Deckowner4 votes

actually that is a very good leash cause damn 15% of the monster's max hp

coeurloyal10 votes

Great. Stick around for 4 more seconds and do 15% more. That saves your jungler from ~70-100hp worth of damage, which lets them move to their next clear faster with a spare pot, which leads to a faster, safer gank. It likely won't cost you anything either because you can get both of those cleavers off and still get back to lane before the minions meet or the first enemy minion falls.

Well, as a jungle main... the jungler's job IS ganking for you but, yes, you deserve the same respect from your laners.

macromite8 votes

your either lying or stupid. a junglers job is to secure a lead. that means counter jungling, ganking, and stacking devourer if the case may be are all part of the junglers job. ganking is only a part, and if you are the type of jungler that ganks losing lanes, your doing it wrong.

AyRe CoNteMpT10 votes

everyones job is "securing a lead" or at least not sucking and falling behind. the junglers job is not to carry you aka "secure a lead" and its not to gank you and its not to ward for you and its not to babysit your ass. the junglers job is to be a useful and strong champion and control his lane, SAME AS EVERYONE ELSE.

if he can spare time ganking or find opportunities to do so (which, MOST OF THE TIME, is the case) then thats really cool but its NOT HIS JOB.

i know beginners who dont understand the game are like OMG GANK ME ITS YOUR JOB. also, if you NEED ganks, it means you didnt do YOUR job properly so dont talk at anyone else.

darkmatchwaldo15 votes

And when the same beginners are jungling they refuse to gank a lane that's behind at all telling themselves "oh well it's better to help the other guy get further ahead, that's what all the how to jungle videos say." Meanwhile, 2 ganks could've gotten the guy who was losing to win the lane. The 7/0Zed DOES NOT NEED YOUR HELP.

Keti9 votes

Damn I never considered it was optimal to leave losing lanes to get shit on, tell me more of your bronze wisdom

LF Annie4 votes

i think it would be better to think of it "don't gank lanes that if the enemy jungler is there, you don't have the advantage."

Keti7 votes

It's very bad to live by absolutes when jungling, sometimes you have to take calculated risks.

The Deckowner4 votes

if the lane is losing and u arent really that strong(ie ganking a 3/0 lv6 illaoi when u are lv5 j4) u probably shouldnt gank it because it will more or less be a double kill for the enemy.

Mech0p6 votes

Junglers job is not ganking for you... I'm not there to babysit lanes I'm there to secure objectives like baron drag and all those fkin turrets lol... If I do gank its because I think I can snowball your lane to a huge lead so that you can take your lead to others as well... I'm there to keep the enemy team cautious so you can have free farm.. PLay jgl for awhile and youll see whats up

Actually the jungler SHOULD gank. Especially if the enemy has no reliable escapes.

What he can't do, however, is winning the lane for you. He can do that with some ganks, but for the most part, it is your responsibility to play safe and not die.

Now that's what I call perspective.

True story. My Red was invaded early when I was Wu by both enemy top Irelia and Yi jg. So our top Fiora comes by after shopping and we engage on Irelia. YI comes in, but we manage to bring them both down low enough for Yi to bail. Irelia, with her life steal thought to take us both on with her sustain and both of us at low health. So, I smite the nearby red for an instant cup of health, scaring her to flash into mid lane's brush where our Kat hops onto her for a clean secure.

Map awareness is the greatest skill of all.

PSA: if my jungler wants to continue farming at less than 1/3rd hp and gets invaded by a full hp jungler and just dies to a rotation of abilities and puts nothing on the enemy jungler. i cant 1v1 the enemy jungler, so i stay in lane because its pointless for me to "save you", when the enemy laner will also follow suit, and I end up getting 2v1'd because you were so low you died on his arival, so if i come to revenge kill you, i just end up dead, i lose farm, and now they're 2 kills ahead.

you need to buy pink wards too, not just the support.

so heres the better plan, we both ward the jungle and get outa dodge when we see it coming a mile away.

While the last part about warding the jungle is true, just presence alone is sometimes enough to scare off an enemy. If you simply leave vision that can mean the difference between their enemy jungler roaming since it's likely they don't have vision of your jungler either. You have to remember that the lane phase doesn't mean you stick to your lane and never move out of vision from the enemy.

The Deckowner4 votes

not every jungler has the sustain to have only 1 pot and a pink ward for the first clear. usually invade happens when the jg came to red so he can smite the redbuff for the hp sustain. the enemy jungler who invades ur jg is usually lv2 and u should be lv3 by the time, there is no reason for u to not help ur jg for easy first blood.

The role of the laner is not to win your jungle for you.

If you expect your jungler to win your lane for you (as 90% of laners do), then yes, it is.

This is only funny because of the number of times a jungler has said "it is your lane. Not my job to win it for you" Then turn around when they have the enemy jungler in their jungle and ask why i didnt come help and wanted to say this. Just funny it only works one way apparently.

The joy of jungle and support circle jerks on these boards though (and i main support).

Trundle Bundle6 votes

Seriously agree here. Some of the complaints junglers and supports ( I also pretty much main support) bring to the table are artifacts from a time when they were reasonable complaints, back when supports spent most of their gold on warding every brush and counter jungling was at its prime. But now they've decayed in metas that no longer have nearly the same stressors, and it's degraded into senseless blubbering.

Jungling is admittedly difficult for it's decision making and somewhat defunct leadership requirements, due to the responsibility to manage objectives and often initiate fights. Even so, the "this is how you should be gracing your jungler" mentality that's going around is beyond excessive.

Frikgeek11 votes

Yeah, no. If you're under your tower you'll just lose a ton of farm and maybe even get killed. Here's what happens if you're under tower and your jungler gets invaded: If you leave lane first, the enemy jungler backs off and runs towards his laner and you lose a ton of cs just so your jungler can get an extra camp. If the enemy leaves first or at the same time because he has a shorter path through river he'll be able to cut you off with his jungler and 1v2 you. You'll die, lose a ton of cs, and your jungler will most likely die too.

If your jungler gets invaded and you're stuck under tower tell him to back the fuck off and give up that 1 camp.

UNSC Aurora9 votes

I see what you are saying BUT for people like me who are still learning and are complete nubs, I need you to tell me what you need. Bc it seems when I go help in the jungle when they are being attacked I am called stupid and I should have stayed in lane. If I stay in lane I am called stupid and told I should have helped. I just havent gotten the hang of knowing when to leave my lane or stay. and when I ask for help I get called F****** useless, stupid, and told to uninstall. And for the record I never play ranked so its not like I am dropping people out of gold or silver or whatever.

Stiv123418 votes

If he calls you stupid and useless, mute, report, forget. Dont even bother with these guys.

Gregor Gysi8 votes

There is this popular opinion on the forums that it's not the junglers job to gank - now I am kinda curious as to whether people who agree with that do also agree to this thread. Because that'd mean that everyone has to help the jungler but the jungler doesn't have to do anything (but may help when he feels like it).

IMO everyone should simply do what is the best for the team. If it is to help your jungler then you should go for it. But if your jungler is most likely dead and you can't accomplish anything but losing farm then you shouldn't go for it. Same with the jungler, if their toplane Nasus is overpushed then it may make sense to gank. However, if the midlane is already 0/5 then there is probably little to do for the jungler.

manbearswine8 votes

Great,more of this circlejerk.

1)No you won't,if he is invading he is likely capable of escaping. 2 & 3)no,in the fight both junglers lost hp meaning both of them will be put behind regardless. 4)screw the farm, the exp loss should nearly guarantee a lost lane.

If you are playing against a jungler with a stronger early, avoid him,if it comes down to it concede your buffs,if your laners pushed their lane and are in a position to help then see if they can,if they are pushed under tower,or the lane is frozen against a stronger pusher, back off,it's not worth it.

Downvote me all you want,it won't turn this crap into something sensible.

DrCyanide7 votes

Greedy Mid laner here to offer another incentive:

That invading Jungler, especially early, likely has a buff. Possibly even a blue buff. Wouldn't it be nice to get an early blue buff? Even if you don't get a buff, how much more likely is your Jungler going to be to give you all the other blue buffs?

TL;DR: If you want your jungler to help you, give him a reason and the opportunity to do so.

----FROM A NONJUNGLER PERSPECTVE-----

A lot of people don't quite understand the tradeoff a lane is giving to come help you. Let me be frank - it's a lot less, "omg no muh farm I'll lose 3 minions", and a lot more, "If I leave this lane for a minute to come help you I am sacrificing a level and possibility an entire wave of CS to potentially do absolutely nothing." I cannot stress enough that this is a big deal. Especially because a lot of the time there is absolutely nothing you can do. And then you just end up being behind, slightly tilted because you just wasted a minute of your life, and frustrated too because not only did you just waste a minute of your life, but you netted absolutely nothing out of it.

As a top lane main it is incredibly frustrating to have your ekko who died at wolves in about 2 seconds bitch at you while you sit about three screens away in your lane for not coming to help him, or when your nidalee dies at their red because of an invade gone bad, and says "wtf gnar why didn't you sit at red with me for two minutes to make sure I didn't get my teeth knocked in by the other jungler??" This happens more often than not, so let me get one thing straight. I'm not going to go on a useless goosechase through our jungle to avenge you, because statistics dictate that that is retarded, and if you invade I will watch for you from the safety of my lane, where I can control the enemy laner and farm. What I will not do is stand at their krugs for two minutes while you fuck around, just so you don't die.

This thread is honestly incredibly hypocritical and I'm surprised more people aren't speaking out. You junglers preach consistency and "being responsible for your lane". Okay, fine, but hey, PSA: You want to pull the whole, "it's not my job to babysit u fam win ur lane wtf"? Then don't turn around and bitch at us because we don't sacrifice the lanes you left us to win to pull yo jank ass out of the dirt.

Dayum.

God this always pisses me off. It's like, you KNOW they have a Lee Sin and will invade, so be ready for it. I always make sure to ward at the last second before going to mid or bot lane, especially when the enemy is an invade heavy champ.

Also, if the enemy has a Blitz, you know they are going to try and invade. Get your ass into that river and block both entrances so they can't get in your Jungle instead of AFKing in the bush like an idiot.

let's Add something else.

when the eemy jungler is any of the following; LeeSin Shaco Udyr MasterYi XinZhao then i suggest to keep your eyes open for the lv2 counter-jungle, especially if you have a jungler that is squishie early, or have slow clears.

i cannot stress enough how important are the level 2 counter jungling is game changing for junglers.

losing that red/blue buff could result in alot of things, such is EVEN slower clears, less efficient ganks, lack of control on objectives due to being low-leveled, while enemy jungler is higher, and stronger.

lost control on scuttle's vision, and so on.

ReshiKillim4 votes

With Shaco you even have to worry about the level 1 counter jungling. I do a lot of that, and it's pretty easy to swipe an important buff early on without people noticing if you do it right.

just played against a very good nunu... the kid was ruthless. he lived in my jungle. yes i warded. yes i pinged. my teams reaction... Some junglers are so shit that you might as well watch them die though. That's the honest to gods truth. Plus, if I'm pushed in, I'm sitting my ass on my lane and farming that up. I'm not missing 10 farm for a kill, nope, no way. Now, if my Jungler is smart, has a defensive ward down, and we spot the would be pillager from a mile away, then you better believe that I'll be preparing to push my lane out and collapse on his sorry ass. But if he just suddenly pops up on my Junglers position and starts kicking his ass, I'm not about to go losing farm and flashing over walls just to superman save him or some shit.

Lastly, Jungler farm doesn't die to turrets or the enemy minion wave - don't try it. I say this as someone who mostly Jungles.

Trundle Bundle5 votes

These jungler privilege threads are getting obnoxious.

Malix Farwin5 votes

The problem junglers dont understand is the XP advantage during laning phase is HUGE. someone even slightly ahead can dominate the other person. What annoys me most is that when Laners get ganked it's "well you should have warded" but when a jungler gets ganked its "well the laner should of come help me". You are holding laners to a double standard. People are literally upvoting anything that say Junglers are right and Laners are wrong even when it contradicts everything they say is wrong with laners. A Jungler can say "PSA If your jungler is behind help them" followed by "PSA if you are behind your Jungler is not suppose to help you", like wtf seriously people?

BeatzBoyFTW4 votes

But, BUT.

If my jungler invades the enemy jungler's instead and he dies, I have nothing to do with it.

Stiv12344 votes

You should warn him tho if your lane opponent is coming to help his jungler.

BeatzBoyFTW2 votes

Majority of those embarrassing times were always a pure 1v1 jungler fights, but yea, I still do warn my invading jungler if the lane opponent is coming to him.

Penns9 votes

And then the jungler blames me because I didnt "follow" while there are 2 minion waves at my tower kek

Dengeden4 votes

Depends on if you'll arrive on time, leaving lane to hold somebody's hand isn't useful in any sense. It's also a questionable decision if you lose the 2v2.

LankPants3 votes

I'll normally move to help if a ward catches the enemy jungler before he's jumping all over mine. By the time you see the invading jungler through line of sight it's normally too late for any reaction from the lanes to do anything.

fééd l0rd3 votes

sometimes it's hard to follow because of the matchup and certain circumstances, since it is soloq. If you are getting invaded you should better leave the buff (if the enemy midlaner is strong early and you got something like Cassiopeia) and don't risk anything there.

Jasiwel3 votes

I'd gladly help my jungler if my opponent wasn't already handing me my sorry ass. :(

Tails Doll2 votes

Unless the enemy mid it's pushing lane wich means your mid laner trying to help you might result in a double kill for mid laner (You as jungler have lower HP/CDS because u got invaded, mid lane aint in a position where the fight would be a 2 v 1 long enough for it to matter)

It's all about perspective, if you get invaded it's your fault, you should've know the Lee sin was going to invade your Mumu (Just an example)

coeurloyal1 votes

[{quoted}](name=Tails Doll,realm=NA,application-id=3ErqAdtq,discussion-id=UOEfJFGd,comment-id=0028,timestamp=2015-12-30T18:48:39.493+0000)

It's all about perspective, if you get invaded it's your fault, you should've know the Lee sin was going to invade your Mumu (Just an example)

That's not necessarily true. It could just be a product of the matchup. The real problem is, the entire team knows there's a Lee Sin or Shaco on the enemy team, and when the jungler calls for help doing defensive warding in the river or calls for assistance at their second buff, they will frequently go unaided--leading to an invade and a kill. There's only so much one jungler can do to prevent getting jumped on, and if the laners aren't willing to help prevent the invade or provide support, the blame is also in their court for knowing its coming and letting it happen.

People get so wrapped up in their lanes that they don't realize that it's everybody's job to protect your side of the jungle. As a laner your job may be to defend the front door to make sure the zombies don't get it, but you also have to help your jungler watch the windows because he can't have eyes on all of them all the time. That's especially true in the preseason because of the changes to warding.

Tails Doll2 votes

If you had defensive wards why didnt you see the enemy jungler coming? Why did you died to him when you saw it coming? Same way laners shouldnt just take for granted jungler pressure to win their lane, junglers shouldnt take for granted laners help when invaded. It's a team game, yes, but if you are playing YoloQ then you gotta know what you are getting yourself into and play accordantly.
