REGARDLESS OF YASUO AND IE NERF

WiegrafOfValor··8 votes·2,615 views

The only thing that will change is instead of building item 3031 + item 3087 and getting 80% crit, you'll be building item 3031 + item 3046 and will be getting 100% crit.

Now please, stop crying and change you crit chance runes to crit damage runes.

You don't seem to understand why Shiv is good on Yasuo

The 190 AoE magic damage + AS + MS to proc it more often, coupled with all his mobility, lets him rapid fire the proc in fights and do massive amounts of magic damage before his crits start hurting

His mid game spike is IE + Shiv, with Shiv's damage still being relevant but his crits hurting now.

Late game you generally sell Shiv for PD anyway, but selling Shiv for PD mid game to complete your power spike means you lose 750 gold that could be spent on a vamp scepter

I doubt it'll hurt too much but it's still a nerf mate

You won't be wasting AS neither MS because PD also give this same stats. The only trade here is 180 not always, magical damage, for 100% crit chance.

PD is only 300g more expensive than Shiv, but in order for Shiv to be gold efficient it needs it's passive, so you can't build Zeal and other item, you need to rush Shiv first, but with PD you can build Zeal + Scepter on early, and still get your spike on time by lvl 8 ~11.

Shiv is the reason he does anything of value early game, and without it he's weak as shit until 2 items, so rushing Zeal IE isn't really an option unless you have a farm lane or the other guy doesn't feel like shitting on you

It is all his early game damage, are you high?

Why do you think he rushes it literally every game?

The issue with this change is that Statikk Shiv's passive is extremely effective on Yasuo between his dashes, AAs, and Qs while Phantom Dancer's passive has the same function as his E.

For a measly 10% more AS, Yasuo loses out on some decent magic damage, damage that helps him significantly before he starts building botrk or IE. With this change, Yasuo will have to build a less favored item to reach the same previous potential.

That is why people are complaining; it is not as if Yasuo is in a overpowered state currently. 10% AS is not that valuable on him since his Q CDR can be almost capped from the AS of BOTRK, and one will be weaving Qs and AAs in a fight as well.

However, I do agree with you that there is an over-reaction over this nerf.

Mathematically speaking, taken Yasuo's base stats along with the runes needed to get to 100% crit chance with current IE compared to Yasuo's base stats along with runes needed to get to 100% crit chance with new IE only yields less than 1% in difference in DPS.

As well, there is always the choice of building a PD and running some crit damage runes. Although you might have a weaker game after completing the first item, you can reach 100% before completing IE. Ultimately, the power spike is moved a bit later in the game, and although it may be somewhat weaker, it is still there.

Edit: Since this thread is getting somewhat chaotic, I would provide the best solution for Yasuo to this change: Get 10% crit runes. In theory, this creates the least amount of unused stats and only lowers Yasuo's current DPS by 1%.

Mathematically, Yasou already have an excess of AS for Q CDR with BoTRK and SS. He does not need more since unless one can essentially get upwards of 2.1 AS, they will not be able to add in another AA before Q comes off CD. Therefore, PD is not that great of an item on him as he does not need to avoid unit collision since he already has his E, and the extra AS and crit will go to waste.

Running a Ghostblade has the same problem, he does not need the AS and further more, he does not need the cool down reduction. The other source of critical chance, trinity force, also has several pitfalls. Yasuo does not need mana, and this item will make his build extremely expensive.

People, just buy some tier 3 crit runes on Yasuo and ask Rito to increase Q's damage by 1% to compensate.

WiegrafOfValor2 votes

I agree with you, I think you understand my point. I never said Shiv is a bad item on him, and I do see why synergize so well with his kit. My point is, this nerf isn't the end of the world, and if you want 100% crit, you have to sacrifice something now.

HexTechBomber1 votes

Well probably just gonna have to use 10% crit chance runes than just 5% alone.

Or just build item 3046

DarthSpectrum1 votes

I would opt for the 10% crit runes. Yasuo currently already need 5 runes to achieve 99% crit chance. If we are to add in 4 more crit marks and one crit quint, we can reach 100% even with the nerfed IE.

This might seem that it will impact his early game, however: Old Runes: [55 (base ad) + 7 (Doran) + 4 (Masteries) + 8.3 (4 ad mark, 2 ad quints)] = 74.3 New Runes: [55 (base ad) + 7 (Doran) + 4 (Masteries) + 2.25 (1 quint)] = 68.25

Calculating damage per strike: [74.3 * 1.8 (10% crit chance with damage reduction) + 74.3 x 9] / 10 = 80.244 [68.25 * 1.8 (10% crit chance with damage reduction) + 68.25 x 4] / 5 = 79.177

As you can see, your effect AD drops by 1. This isn't even 1% of your DPS early on since AS will be less than 1.

HexTechBomber1 votes

In your equation at the bottom help me understand the 9 and 4 you're multiplying there. Just trying to figure that out there. This takes into account that if you use 10% crit rune setup that it's 20% infact at the start? Also don't forget the scaling AD bonus point you get in the Mastery tree and if the person is taking the Warlord too.

DarthSpectrum1 votes

No problem: The first equation, multiplied by 9 signifies a crit chance of 10% (5% from runes, as it is now). One strike out of ten is critical and is multiplied by 1.8, the other 9 does not crit. The sum is then divided by the number of strikes to find the average.

In the second equation, since the crit chance is now, 20%, one in five strikes will crit. Hence, one strike crits and is multiplied by 1.8, while the other 4 does not. The sum is then divided by the number of strikes to find the average.

The former calculations takes into account 5% crit chance from runes, becoming 10% due to Yasuo's passive. The latter calculation uses 10% crit chance from runes, becoming 20% with Yasuo's passive.

I purposely did not include the scaling AD bonus from Warlord because it does not affect damage that much. At level one, it does not even offer 1 AD even with 3 points in it so there was no practical use in including it. (On the a side note, this mastery perk is pretty much useless on Yasuo since he does not stack that much AD. it is however, somewhat viable on champions with innate AD steroids such as Zed or Fiora.)

Had a good laugh seeing some people think yasuo can live without shiv... item 3087 is love item 3087 is lyfe IE's more directed at adc in general. If riot seriously want to hurt yasuo, they'd nerf item 3087

The IE + PD combo puts him at 110% crit though... so he's wasting some gold value, right? Although could you imagine, rush pd for 70% crit on one cheap item? That's what sounds broken.

IE is being nerfed to 20%

PD is staying 30%

(20+30)*2 = 100

????????

edit: Herd mentality is real; when I made this post I had yet to inform myself / be informed that PD's crit was going up (because the time before the last time I checked the PBE (I checked it right after making this post) PD was still listed as having 30% crit).

Joe Dredd2 votes

PD is going up to 35%

WiegrafOfValor3 votes

How can you waste 10% crit, since you're getting 55% free critical chance. Is the same thing that saying: Hey dude I don't want another car for free since I can only drive one car.. but wait it's still a free car.

Joe Dredd4 votes

Actually, it's more like hey dude you have a car so you can choose between another car or a boat. I'd choose the boat because I already have a car.

WiegrafOfValor6 votes

You're not getting at all, the +5% crit on item 3046 is free, no one asked for this buff. That means you won't be wasting more gold building it, rito only made PD more gold efficiently. Besides, what other combo can achive 100% with 2 items?

Joe Dredd3 votes

Let's say Riot buffed IE to 50% crit. You would no longer get PD or Shiv because the crit chance on those items becoems useless. Small waste is still waste.

WiegrafOfValor6 votes

Okay genius, I am not gonna argue. You win, keep your 80% crit and I'll go home with my 100% crit and my 10% wasted crit chance.

PD and ghostblade, but no enhanced crit dmg

Good, now you just wasted +50% crit damage.. feeling smarter now?

2700g + 2800g = 100% of chance to do 180% dmg 3800g + 2800g = 100% of chance to do 225% dmg

1100 gold for 45% increase dmg on my every hit. I'll take it.

...ummm? I was only responding to what other combination would equal 100% crit chance. In no way was I implying that I would build that myself. I even freaking mentioned it. Maybe read over what someone's saying before you get rude af. "feeling smarter now" wtf is that man.

WiegrafOfValor1 votes

Sry, by no means I tried to offend you, just saying that isn't viable. Even though I really forgot he could achieve 100% with PD and Ghostblade, thanks to the new PD buff.

HexTechBomber2 votes

Heck if you run 5% crit runes, you're now sitting on item 3046 70% and 10% from runes.

Stick to item 3087, you'll have 40% from item 3087, another 40% from item 3031 and run 10% crit runes (doubles to 20%) and bamo, 100% again.

So yah if you also start with 10% crit runes you start in game with actually 20% which isn't too bad a start, a 1/5 chance to crit.

we slightly brought yasuo back to life... now we killed him again.

well shiv was a hell lot better for yasuos, I dont play him but Shiv has always seemed to be a more popular pick PD

WiegrafOfValor1 votes

Sure you can argue that AoE 225 magical damage is a good thing on him, but it's not on every hit, and not always happen in the moment you need.

Instead, someone may prefer to ALWAYS do 225% dmg per hit. I prefer the confidence to always score a crit, than some chance to score a 225 magical dmg in a moment that isn't optimal to me.

Regardless of farming: Dash and Q creates an AoE crit dmg on the minions formation, 90% time you one-shot 4 to 6 minions..

Brenticus121 votes

That was cause you can still get 100% crit with 5% crit chance runes and shiv+IE and having the benefits of Shiv's passive which is an AOE magic damage (Which is quite useful early and mid game while still being relevant late for splitpushing) while PD gave you a 110% Crit chance with a relatively useless passive since by then your E CD would be low enough to substitue for the passive while being better. Now you can get 90% Crit even with 5% runes. Shiv is still a good choice and overall better imo even if you have to sacrifice some crit chance though you'd be better off selling it after mid game (Once you're done building your lifesteal item and are about to start a defensive item)

Elphrihaim1 votes

Well then

Having gone and checked the PBE again, since the last time I checked, it was 20% IE and 30% PD, I dunno. d:

Maybe ill just go shiv/Ie/Ghostblade and ditch crit runes. Only need the 800g gpm sword to get that extra 20% anyways
