So. I decided to start my placement matches today. I have about 130 games in normals. The thing is my first ever ranked game I see a dude with a gold border. My third game people are talking about promos for silver II and gold! Where all the bronze players at. Does riot hate me. What made them think I would be good in a match with golds and silvers when I have never played ranked before?
LostFr0st1 votesNo, on the contrary! Being placed vs gold early is fine. The placement matches are meant to find your spot within different pools of enemies. If you lose vs Golds, then it'll give you some mid-high Silvers, then you win, so it'll give you enemies a tiny bit harder.
It's not sure where you belong yet, so it is testing you. Just try to enjoy the 10 games and from then on you'll start your actual ranked climb.
Morticianjohn1 votesIt is really bad at first. I went 1 win 9 losses in my placement matches and ended up in bronze 2..... Almost immediately went to bronze 5. Yeah, I was a bronze 5 player who was facing a bunch of silver players in placements....
Then next season was fine but it really screws you over the first time you enter ranked games.
Cowseed1 votesI realized it was mainly just pressure. Started not really caring about people thinking I was going to suck and I almost played as well as I do in normals. The thing is they actually play to win. That's the only difference I realized was there.
