If You Put Support as an Option in Dynamic Que You Always get Support

I love the idea of dynamic que. The ability to focus on two roles in ranked games is great. That being said, serious work needs to be done to balance the que for players who put "support" as their 2nd choice. I main jungle and run support when I can't get jungle. Support is my second best role and I don't mind playing it. But I'm not as good a support as I am a jungle and I do not enjoy it as much as I do jungle. Furthermore I find it hard to significantly improve my odds of winning as support. I know that excellent supports can get ADCs way ahead in game. I'm a good support, but not an excellent one.

Thus, I find it extremely frustrating that, out of my now 13 ranked games played, I have been pushed over to support 11 times. Thus, I have only been able to play my main role in 15% of cases. This is less than I was able to jungle in the old system. I lost many of my placement games in situations were every lane was doing poorly and there was little to nothing I could do to impact that. I feel that, had I been given my main role in even 50% of my games I would have been placed higher.

Again, I love the concept of dynamic ques. However, when I am in que and it pops instantly, and puts me in my second choice for the 6th time in a row I feel very frustrated. It's come to the point that I have considered putting my 3rd best role in instead, because I am tired of never ever getting to play my 1st choice. I feel that if the que pops the moment I press go and I get my 2nd role for the 6th straight time RIOT could have easily put me in que for 10-15 seconds and given me my first choice instead.

I don't think asking for my first choice 50% of the time when que times are 0 seconds long is that much ask.

I tend to agree.

The current system is completely broken... I had to stop playing support altogether because I would ALWAYS get support even though jungle was my primary. Ok not always but 9 out of 10 is still way too high.

I'm in the same boat I prefer the jungle anymore and am trying practice for ranked. I keep support as my second because I've been a support main since s3. However, every single game I get put as support even though I have Jungle listed as my primary. Even when I do get Jungle someone dodges then puts me back into the support role.

So just put mid as your second option occasionally, and you can create the environment you're interested in.

One could certainly do that and it might fix the problem for that person. But it seems like that would only make the "always support" problem worse globally. If the only way to avoid being support every single game is to not put it as an option the pool of supports gets even smaller.

Also, has anyone else had the problem where someone (not you or a partner) fails to click the AFK check and when you're returned to que the wait skyrockets? It's happened several times to me. Today I had quick que times until someone missed an AFK check. After I was put back in que I waited 5 minutes before leaving que and starting over. When I started que again it popped in less than 5 seconds.

This is annoying on my level 30 account, but crippling on my smurf. I have a level 15 account that I play on when I'm introducing friends to the game. The other day I was on it and wait times were 10+ minutes long. But the real problem was if someone missed the check you never got put into game. So you had to wait 10 minutes for a chance at a game, and when someone was afk getting a drink when que popped you had to start back at 0 again.

My friend and I tried to get into a game for an hour before giving up. Contacted RIOT and all I got was a "sorry about your experience, we are always working to improve the que experience for all of our players" form letter answer.

You can't put roles into the "dynamic queue".

But you can put roles into the new Champion Select.

They are two different things.

While that's true the two came in at the same time and are linked. There is no dynamic que without the new champion select. Yes you can split hairs over semantics but that doesn't really address the core issue does it? There are a shortage of supports, which means anyone willing to support at all gets support every single time, which means no one is willing to support, which means there is a shortage, and round and round it goes. We could call it the "The Great Red Rover Cycle" but the core issue would still be the same.

If you disagree then fine. Say so and say why. Down voting and throwing in a mocking comment doesn't move the conversation at all. Do you think that getting your 1st choice 15% of the time is the way the que should function?
