I made a mistake, and lost 45 minutes of my life.

I forgot Smite.

Got time to read? hear me out, otherwise tl:dr

Im Gold 5. I was Rengar Enemy was shaco jungler.

Shaco spent first 10 minutes punishing me for forgetting smite, stealing each buff I tried to acquire. Shaco spent the next 10 minutes stealing one dragon, and punishing my lanes with 100% buff uptime. Shaco spent minute 20-30 using his level advantage over me to keep me from farming my jungle. I was able to survive on ganks, and was able to steal a dragon at the 25 minute mark, But overall my jungle experience that game was completely null and void because I forgot smite.

So i have a solution. Every jungler has one thing in common, they need smite. The jungle item REQUIRES smite to buy (wtf riot). How about, if you lock in jungle, you are given smite. The system will automatically give smite to you. If you dont have it, you will get a warning message around the 20 second (prior to launch) that says: Warning: You're about to Jungle without Smite, This will block the purchase of Jungle Items and Severely hinder your experience in the jungle,

Just because you dont personally have the problem, doesnt mean there ISNT a problem.

tl:dr Forget smite=no jungle item no jungle item= less xp from jungle creatures. no smite=no objective kills, or jungle buffs. My idea to fix, If you lock in jungle, you're given smite as a summoner spell. If you try to change it,

"Warning: You're about to Jungle without Smite, This will block the purchase of Jungle Items and Severely hinder your experience in the jungle, Would you like to take smite?"

We're aiming to have a solution for this in the new client. Frustrating though it occasionally is we don't feel it's worth building a temporary solution between now and the new client's full launch though. The people that would be able to make a temporary solution are the same ones working on the new client, so at this point many things we could do in the old client would end up delaying the new one.

How on earth you forget to get smite and how stupid is your team to don't remind you in champ select.

I've been in 2 games with the enemy team smiteless and it was the most delicious freelo I had

There was a similar thread here and it ended with some idiot arguing that it would be enforcing the meta and wouldn't let him express his creativity playing Smitless junglers.

Or less meta-pushing option: Once someone is to be jungler in Role-selecting Lobby and they are smiteless, during the preparation time message will pop up warning you how crucial Smite is and that you should pick it, because you don't have it. In non-role-selecting lobbies, If entire team is smiteless during the preparation time, message will pop up for everyone that If there's a jungler in their team, they should pick smite.

I forgot smite (on Rengar) and my top let me come top with him for the first 10 minutes until I could get a full first item to properly farm jungle with.

We won but it was a rough start to the game.

I think it would be cool if the client had a built-in popup/warning system for the more forgetful Junglers out there. Maybe a notification within the last 10 seconds of Champ Select that goes something like, "You are queued as this team's Jungler but don't have Smite selected! Are you sure you would you like to proceed?" At least this way, Junglers won't be forced to take Smite every game, even if it is the most viable for them.

The developers have designed purchasing decisions for junglers that make jungling a soft-cap exclusive to those who buy smite and jungling equipment. That is part of world-engineering, and perhaps there is sound reason to encourage laners not to roam the jungle during the first few levels. So far, this is an appropriate application of demi-god, a fine line between choice design and the opportunity to be willful.

There is a problem though, in that the jungler cannot succeed without smite, but can fail to buy smite usually by accident.

It might be of value to develop some way to promote into conscious awareness the need for smite and the attendant jungler tools for players in that role.

atleast you know now how ADC players feel, Mr.Rengar player.

An option to switch to it in the first minute of the game could help too. I imagine all junglers have forgotten it at least once or twice.

To be fair, they made jungle items only buyable with smite so people would stop taking saber to lanes and stomping everyone wth it.

As someone who ends up running Teleport on my ADC for at least around 4 games after URF ends (I almost never switch summoners), I can see how easy this mistake is to make. It is also far to punishing if you do.

Teleport Caitlyn might not be awesome, but at least it doesn't ruin your entire game.

Forced? No

It would prevent role swapping with a teammate.

A warming though..yes please.

What I really dislike is when I forget to take the proper summoners/runes/masteries etc is because I chose them, someone dodged and the reset and I'm going in with the mindset that I already chose it, forgetting that it resets. 9/10 times thats the reason I run an improper setup.

You're playing a Jungler, forget smite, and then complain about having no smite. What is the point of this thread other than you pointing out that smite is needed to jungle?

BloodLord Kitty6/19/2016, 8:40:53 PM1 votes

What if you could trade ss with one team mate b4 leaving base? like you forgot smite? chill dude im not and ill switch my smite which i barely managed to pick for your tp.

If no one in your team has smite and game is about to start you get a pop up telling you and you get 10 seconds (incase you lagging or w/e) for changing it. Every player in your team must press accept and if someone doesn't press it, (because they're afk) then that person dodges and Q restarts. The pop up at the end would only pop if no one on your team has smite and if it's some sort of new tactic because of some recent patch and you didn't want smite so you pressed accept, then person not knowing your strat or refusing to accept you trying it will dodge if he or she pressed decline. About that?
