What do you build Armor for?
Team fights. Carries some hits in fights (trade offs) for your team to win fights.

You don’t. Armor and mr (mostly armor) are the most worthless stats in the game.
Just take every single armor item, and reduce the armor on it by 24%. Because the pen and shred in the game is through the roof.

Armour gives you the illusion that you might be able to soak damage from physical champions. In reality, you get 0.5-1 second of life for every 100 armour you build.
Movespeed and burst damage, grevious wounds. Sometimes for aoe damage/slow.
Wait, did you mean as a defensive thing? People still do that? In that case, just enough to cancel out lethality.
