The way 10 bans is executed is trash.

The fact that we can no longer see the enemy team's bans so we have SOME chance of not banning the same champion is absurd. Riot, you have failed to incorporate the 10 ban system at a level expected by the player base. There is absolutely no reason as to why we shouldn't see the other bans the enemy team has selected. When a ban from the enemy team is locked in, we should be able to see the champion who was banned immediately. This is ridiculous and will only cause problems. We wanted 10 bans FOR A REASON. We do not want to end up wasting bans because of your crappy system that someone thought would be a good idea.

Its not like we are retarded either. Riot explicitly said, and I quote, "There is a chance of duplicated bans across teams. Giving visibility into the enemy bans before time runs out causes the strongest strategy to be waiting until the closing moments to bait-and-switch bans with your opponent, which sounds unfun. This also reduces the chance of certain meta champions being banned across every game. Y’all know who we mean."

THEY FUCKING DID IT THIS WAY BECAUSE THEY DON'T WANT PEOPLE TO PERMABAN LEE FUCKING SIN. THERE IS A REASON WE WANT TO BAN HIM, YOU STUPID FUCKS, WE DON'T GIVE A SHIT ABOUT YOUR GOLDEN BOY.

I don't know about anyone else, but I don't care if both my team and the enemy team bans Lee Sin. Because wasting that ban is worth it if I never have to see that piece of shit broken ass ever again. Do you hear me Riot? Your BS implementation means NOTHING!

I want to take a moment to strongly recommend folks use the Pick intention feature and also list a back up champ or two for their main role for composition reasons. Use your 5 bans to deal with issues your team comp would have, not just to cock block what ever GD feels is OP or FOTM. If folks use their awareness as a team this is gonna be interesting, If folks don't adapt to it then its gonna be same as previous ban phase where meta, fotm, strong champs just get perma banished and same as it has been. Your call summoners.

Inb4 we actually lose a ban because most people will ban roughly the same OP FotM champs and you could get 5 duplicates or half as passed bans.

This is so laughably pathetic on Riot's part. It's easy to see why they took so damn long putting the system in in the first place, cause literally everything they do these days has to have a gimmick. Just another reason to never play ranked.

Oh wait they've totally screwed over ARAM too now... I can't even enjoy that anymore.

Am I doing the salt right G&B? Cuz I'm feeling it right now...

Typical Riot.

They give you what you want, but in a way that is convoluted and ultimately useless.

Playerbase: "Hey it would be neat if we had a rotating game mode"

Riot: "Sure, here ya go" [gives us a mode that doesn't rotate at all and features the same four modes which don't include the two most popular of them all, URF and OFA]

Playerbase: "We want a new client instead of this Adobe Air bullshit"

Riot: "We agree, here ya go!" [Gives us a client that is buggy and should have never been released as is]

Playerbase: "We want 10 bans like they have in pro play"

Riot: "Your wish is our command" [gives us a system whereby there's a chance that 10 champions get banned, but more than likely only 6-8 actually are, and a system that is needlessly complex]

I don't think its too incredibly bad.

Its not like your team is actually losing bans, per say. Your team only got 3 as it is and making it so you can't see their effectively bumps that number to five. If there is some overlap, it doesn't change the fact that your team still had a say in two more bans than you would have normally.

This also handles the problem of champs being unjustly permabanned quite nicely actually. Only truly permabannable champs will receive such treatment.

That said, it does mess with the point of getting more bans because there are more champions.

Ya this is seriously stupid. I would rather wait an aditional 2 minutes to ban then have this shit.

Why not change it so that the ban phase is the same as the previous pick format. Blue bans 1, red bans 2, blue bans 2, red bans 2, blue bans 2, red bans 1. then work your way into picks. the fact that you can ban multiple champions twice is just fucking stupid.

People, they announced how 10 bans is working today. It isn't a myth and it's actually coming in 7.11

This is easily the dumbest single move Riot has ever made. It makes no logical sense and ignores decades of gaming/player behavior knowledge. Do you know how absolutely tilted each team will be if they ban the same 5 champs? It's common human behavior to get angry when you feel something has been "wasted", Riot's just asking for more people to join the game already mad.

The Ender Cobra5/20/2017, 1:43:15 AM9 votes

How should it have been done? If they just made it so that it works like it currently does but with the top 2 people on each team included champ select could be up to 2 minutes longer.

GreenWithEnvee5/20/2017, 3:54:03 PM8 votes

You expected riot games to do something involving common fucking sense. LOL jokes on you

Eeyore5/20/2017, 4:20:20 AM7 votes

Just make each pair pick simultaneously, like in Heroes of the Storm. That halves the pick phase.

Honestly, I think it would have been better for competitive health to have two ban phases - allowing teams to ban based on what the enemy has already picked would provide better gameplay. For example Bans: 2-2; Picks: 1-2-2; Bans 3-3; Picks; 2-2-1

Blind Bans seems like it'd be a fun solution to bans in FGMs that should be super-quick, but it doesn't seem like a good direction for competitive.

And A Real Hiero5/20/2017, 4:41:05 PM6 votes

They don't want certain champions premabanned cause it would force them to change their toxic kits.

General Esdeath 5/20/2017, 3:31:06 AM6 votes

It wouldn't be a Riot patented change without some sort of catch to it.

HaIlMonitor5/19/2017, 11:59:08 PM4 votes

Why do people hate this so bad? Why would you want a whole role to basically get banned out at once. It would be very possible for them to ban out 10 adc's or 10 jg or some crap. That isnt easy to have a champion pool that deep for the average player.

Edit: This way seems to make it much less likely.
