Replace AFK/Disconnected In-Game Players with Intermediate Bots

I know it is not fair for one team to lose a one or more players during in game. It reduces the chance of winning. Why not replace them with Bots. Do not worry. The intentional AFK players should be punished or given a warning for their future games. If they AFK during the game and win the game, they will not gain any IP. This situation should be only for normal blind/draft games. The ranked games require lots of teamwork in order to get higher. If the player doesn't show up any time in ranked, they will lose LP and not gaining IP. This is just my thought on League of Legends games trying to help normal games to have a possible positive attitude. What do you think we should do in order to help increase win rate?

The bots don't scale with ELO well at all, also the amount of champions that have working AI is limited at the moment, people would pretty much just use them to farm kills, especially since there is a glitch with the bots that makes them occasionally just stand there and not even auto attack.

Not with the current bot setup. Since the intermediate bots have buffed stats but the same AI, this could easily lead to either a notable advantage or a major feeder.

For Ranked:

If a player AFK's in a game (long enough for the message to display) then the game should give an announcement of some sort. After like +2 min of quitting the game a message appears like : "The game will end momentarily due to a summoner being swallowed by the void." The team who wins gets reduced LP for the 5vX win. The losing team gets slightly less LP loss (Like if they gain 15lp a game, they only lose 3). The loss and win doesn't affect promo series games. Both teams get full IP for win/loss. The player who AFK'd gets full penalty

If its a connection related and it shows its a continuous trend throughout the game then it should be loss forgiven and a no LP gain or loss. Simply leaving the game and coming back is not enough. Should be like Leaving the game (4min pause) come back then disconnected etc... Riot could even record pings of the player to confirm internet issues to make sure someone isn't necessarily cheating.

For Draft/Normals:

If a player AFK's (long enough for the message to display) then the team with the missing teammate should have an early option to surrender.

  1. God no. No bots. I'd rather have an afk than a bot on my team (bots usually die every time they go back to lane, feeding enemies gold and not contributing to team at all).

  2. For games where there is a player who never connected (or disconnected while the "gate" was still up), the game should be paused for around 2 minutes, giving them time to reconnect. If they fail to do so, a surrender vote appears for the team with disadvantage. If it passes, the game is cancelled with no penalties nor rewards for either team, except the player who failed to connect, who gets the same treatment as queue dodge (-3/-10 LP, failing a match if in series and the queue delay). If it fails the game follows as usual, with full penalties and rewards for both teams.

  3. For games where there is an afk for 5 minutes or longer (but not from the start) the game should allow the team with disadvantage to do a surrender vote before 20th minute mark. Rewards and penalties stay the same to avoid abuse.

  4. Any afker that isn't included at point 2 (the one who couldn't connect) should get double the penalty for losing (even if his team won) as well as delay on queue. So, if you would lose 15 LP for a game - if you afked you lose 30. If you were in promotion - you get two loses. And the queue delay is pretty self explanatory - you can't queue just as if you dodged.

Also, here are my opinions on how ranked restriction should work (instead of how it does now).

  • You can get ranked restriction by AFKing, intentionally feeding and assissting enemy team ONLY. Verbal abuse and offensive language shouldn't be a part of this, as there is already a chat restriction which takes care of it (and of course they can still get banned for repeated offenses).

  • When you get ranked restriction you cannot play ranked for some time (so that it doesn't ruin the normal draft - unlike the current system), and winning or losing games takes no part in it. Let's say 1 day/3 days/7 days/14 days would be nice thresholds.

  • If a player gets punished enough times they cannot gain any rewards for ranked for this season and are banned for ranked till the end of the season (I really doubt many players will get that far, but who knows).

  • Ranked restriction doesn't restrict the chat of the player. As I said before - this should be a completely separated system.

As you can see, I think that there should be no real benefits for teams with afks, simply because it would be abusable. Sure, there is number 2, but I believe that the game ending before 00:15 is roughly the same as queue dodge (since the game would be paused till the guy reconnect or the surrender vote appears).

And I also believe that surrender vote should disabled for the whole game (unless there is an AFK in the team) or it should only pass with 100% of votes, but hell, that's a bit different topic.

Or we could do what dota 2 does and give bonus gold per 10 to the entire team while a player is afked. and please don't give me that crap about "well then the feeder would just dc and give the team a gold advantage" the fact is that feeder still contributed to vision and damage no matter how bad it still helped. Even a feeder ash still gave 100 damage per sec with a 3 sec global stun. This premise also assumed someone on the team will snowball with additional gold a foolish assumption since you only win 20% of the time and are reliant on snowball champs being on the team.
