Patch Rundown Video Feedback

The patch rundown is one of my favorite ways that Live Gameplay communicates with the player base. Having people talk about the issues in a video format really helps give players an idea of the human element that goes into each patch note. However, I do not think that this system is perfect. I would like if some of the more controversial parts of the patch were discussed in the patch rundown. Several times I have felt that a key issue or topic that everyone is talking about before the patch goes live doesn't get addressed in the discussion.

For instance, the biggest offender from the 5.9 rundown was the Zed ultimate nerf. Everyone was up in arms about it before the patch went live, and though Meddler had commented on the forums about the context for the change, I felt it still merited further discussion. Furthermore, the fact it wasn't mentioned in the patch rundown at all made it seem like the balance team was scared to talk about it because it was controversial. CertainlyT was on the show as well, and he would have been one of the leading authorities as to the effect of the nerf to Zed. I felt an opportunity was really missed here.

I understand that a lot of editing has to occur in order to squeeze in your content into a 15 minute time frame. In the 5.9 patch rundown CertainlyT starts talking about the impact of Kalista in teamfights, something that you didn't discuss directly in the video and hinting that it was discussed but edited. Perhaps the patch rundown could involve conversation beyond that 15 minutes in a follow-up video or podcast that is just the raw footage? For example, post one video that is the patch rundown and have it similar to what you have now, and then post a separate video that shows the discussion that happened on every topic. The second video could even be sent out as a podcast so that there is plenty of clarity on the Riot Youtube page about which videos are current.

Podcasts would provide an excellent venue for long discussions like you seem to have in the patch rundown shooting. My understanding is that you could just take the audio from your rundown and upload it as a podcast, similar to what MagicTV does on the ChannelFireball site. I would love to listen to balance discussions from the actual change makers as I drive to work each day.

Overall, I really enjoy the communication that the Live Balance Team puts out, but I wish there was more. I am all about learning about the "why" of people doing things, and content like what you put out is a great source for that. Please continue your hard work :)
