Crit Defense?

I was playing an MMO that included a stat with its armors that in addition to the typical damage mitigation provided by building defenses, reduced the incoming critical hit chance. The stat was called "Protection" and reduced the likelihood that the opponent could land a critical hit by some % up to 30%.

I was thinking about it, and I think there are cases where this small addition, say a 5% or 10% on an item or two that could protect tanks from opponents who stack critical rates as well as damage. I'm aware that this may be a silly idea, but i'm interested in what the community thinks of it.

i think it's too specific of a defense, really. it'd only be useful IF the enemy was building very, very high crit chance, which never happens usually. other than that, crit protection is useless outside of this narrow window of use :\

The idea of crit protection is interesting, though. I think something more like reducing the damage taken by crits would be more useful, especially because the enemy ADC is gonna have some crit chance, and even if an item only gives, say, 25% incoming crit dmg reduction, that's enough to save you from 1 crit in every 4. It'd be pretty worth it.
