Suggestion for Ryze

As a Ryze main, I have experienced many times where my laning opponent claims Ryze to be a no skill champ. Usually they would say all a Ryze would need to do is face roll, which isn't how he works. Some of them who have an understanding of how Ryze works mock by typing WQEQWQ... It is true, however. There are very few other viable cast orders that Ryze can use. So I suggest that Desperate Power, his ult, be changed.

The spell vamp and AOE are activated for 5 seconds after reaching 5 stacks of arcane mastery, instead of being activated by ult. The spell vamp and CDR still scale off Despower's rank. Only the movement speed remains when Despower is active, and its cool down is significantly reduced. The movement speed is nerfed.

I think that with a very low cool down Desperate power, he can weave it in between spells more often, instead of just using q every other spell. This would really raise his skill cap. Think of all the different combos he could do in order to maximize his damage. For example, if there are many enemies clumped together: EQRE. Also, having the MS separate from the AOE and spell vamp really helps (because Ryze can't move and cast at the same time).

Advice? Play Brand instead

Brand and Ryze are similar in design, but I prefer sustain over pure damage.

So his ult would be a speed boost...?

Never mind, Ryze was changed this patch. My idea that his AOE and spell vamp should be activated on passive wouldn't work now, because it lasts 5 spell casts

Yes, his ultimate would give a small speed boost. I think this would help his design, since Ryze is supposed to be a mobile mage who runs and slings spells (watch the cinematic!). But in game, he's more like an AP Kog'maw; Ryze needs to stay still in order to barrage his enemies.
