Pro tip is make sure you click on her and watch how many stacks to her passive she has and if she gets it stay back dont fight her. If youre not playing a champion that can deal with her then just dont take any fights play cautiously pay attention to your minions and dont get too close to low HP minions so she can use it as a gap close onto you.

Irelia relies a lot on snow balling because her items/builds are pretty expensive so if you do you best to not die to her as much as possible she wont be nearly as strong. Its just how you would play something like Tanks into Darius now when to just give up CS, sure it sucks ass haveing low CS but its better than dying.
