Preselecting a champion is a great idea, as it allows people to customize the team comp. However, there are jerks who ban their own teammates choice of champion, just to be a jerk. They may hate a champion, or they arrogantly think they have a great reason for banning, but they shouldn't be allowed to ban that champion if someone else enjoys using them.
There is one problem with your suggestion. If our 5th pick is pre-selecting Mundo, I will still ban him, because there is no way the first 4 picks on the enemy team won't pick him before our 5th pick can do it.
Just preselect a different champion that fills a similar niche. If you want to take Amumu in the jungle, preselect Malphite or Sej. Your team will get that you'll be playing a tanky initiation jungler, but if one decides to be a jerk and ban Sej out from under you, you just switch to Amumu and smile.
Or you could not preselect anyone. This takes away from establishing a teamcomp early, but that can be done pretty effectively after the bans are done as well.
It sounds bad, but sometimes tricking your own teammates or keeping them in the dark is the way to go to cement a pick. For example: You want to play Garen mid and got the mid role. Do you preselect Garen? HELL NO. One of your teammates may think you're trolling/noobish and ban Garen to prevent you from "making a mistake".
Maybe so, but it is a still a problem. I've seen and experienced having first pick guaranteed, and some jerk bans anyway. I'd rather error on the side of preventing jerks troll banning.
Preselect becomes useless if we aren't able to confidently select the actual champion we are most likely to play. If I'm going to be the first or second person to select a champ, I will make adjustments of tank vs squishy, cc vs poke, etc., based off of other people's initial pick. That is not possible without confidence in the pre-select process if people "hide" their actual selection for fear of a troll ban.
It would be better to entirely remove the preselect and speed up the time to play the actual game.
I'm sorry but there are certain champs that bring nothing to a team (raka, nid, support mundo, first pick yi or kat) and so i will ban these because my own experience tells me "i wanna afk everytime i have these champs on my team" since they bring nothing other than feeding and grieving. so the way i see it, i am doing a favor to our whole team and limiting your feeding potential even though you will still feed with whatever second choice u picked anyways, but i rather you feed with leona than raka.
A great feature, but unfortunately it also empowers trolls. A reporting feature would help. If a player excessively bans pre-selected champions, some form of punishment could be a deterrent.
