We Need More PvE Modes!
Let me say, I love League of Legends. This game has been my favorite game for a very long time now, recently however I am growing tired of it. The reason I'm growing tired of this game isn't anything even related to this game either. The biggest problem I have with League of Legends is that you are forced to deal with people and I'm most definitely not someone who enjoys working with or talking to anyone. My favorite style of video games are strategy based games and RPG's such as Final Fantasy. League of Legends is similar in the fact that it requires a lot of strategy whether it's the items you purchase to combat your enemies, deciding where enemies will go, what enemy to attack first, or the objectives you choose (tower, dragon, baron, etc).
Overall, I despise PvP. When League of Legends first came out I didn't play it simply because it was a "PvP" game. Even the system that was used was called "PVP.net" and I wanted nothing to do with it. My best friend really wanted me to try League, so I started watching him play (he loves Cho'Gath). A couple years down the road I was bored, so I finally decided that I'd give League of Legends a shot and downloaded it. When I first played League of Legends, I didn't play it a whole lot because I didn't enjoy the idea of fighting another person. I played Support because it seemed like the only role that didn't require me to constantly keep dealing with enemy players, as I could just put a lot of wards everywhere and provide my team with vision at all times. Later after watching YoDa play Lee Sin I decided to being learning how to Jungle. Jungling was much less stressful than laning and eventually I stopped even thinking of the enemy team as real players and even until now tend to think of them more like really good AI.
League of Legends is full of really fun champion kits. I loved the original version of Vi when she was first released (Q made her immune to CC). Just about every champion back towards Season 2-3 was busted and I can't complain that all of them are being reworked and patched up over time, however with each patch League of Legends as a whole becomes less and less fun to play. The more team centered and balanced League of Legends becomes, the harder and harder it becomes to win. When every player on a team has equal influence on a match, that tips the game heavily as one player only controls 1/5 (20%) of the strategy of the game. As someone who already has a heavy dislike for PvP, it's not enjoyable when I do well in most games (not perfectly, but well enough) yet I can't win because I'm only 1/5th of my team and my other 4 teammates are unable to handle their enemies. Back long ago when the champions were in unbalanced states, there was always the possibility of one single player being able to heavily make up for his teammates slack, anymore however and that is rarely the case.
When it comes to "Environment" modes, League of Legends has very few options. Neither set of bots (Beginner / Intermediate) are challenging enough or interesting enough to provide any long term play options. Something I'd love to experience would be a "Campaign Mode" which makes Tutorial like Scenarios that helps you learn each champion and takes you through the lore and story of various champions. Even if it had to be paid for with RP after unlocking the champion, I think it would be well worth it. Completing a champions campaign could perhaps also reward a special icon or emote which you could then use in the other game modes. I'd much rather be Katarina dancing on a battlefield with Garen while fighting waves and waves of endlessly spawning enemy champion bots than dealing with fighting a bunch of real people constantly.
Even for those who love PvP, I think League of Legends really needs something else to do when you are full on-tilt and need reprieve.
Riot, please consider investing more into PvE options for players like myself. I love this game to death however I wish there were more to do than just fighting other players constantly.
