Top Lane Needs Some Serious Buffs

Recently I've given up hope on playing Top lane.

There's no game control in that lane anymore because beating your enemy laner doesn't mean anything. The vast majority of games which I've played on this account (it's Bronze), my team feeds. I dominate my lane and fairly often can 1v2 the enemy Top & Jungler, but it doesn't mean anything because my Bot lane is going to feed 15+ deaths in the first 20 minutes of the game and I can't do anything to prevent it. I take teleport hoping that my bot lane will be smart enough to toss some wards, it doesn't happen. Even if I ask these people to ward, they don't do it, or they'll place one and forget that they have more wards for the rest of the game.

In most games, enemy bot lane is shoving on me just as hard as I'm shoving in Top lane. There only one problem with this... Top lane is only 1 champion where Bot lane holds two champions. When bot lane is winning hard, the enemy AD can 1v2 (maybe even 1v3 if it's Caitlyn or Ezreal) because they're so far ahead of the other bot lane. That means they have 1 free champion available to roam the map. Meanwhile, the losing team has two champions committed to a losing lane which are unable to leave without risking even further losses. Trading Top to have a strong Bot lane is always worth it without any exceptions. This also in turn creates more problems, because most Junglers won't help Top lane due to how much better it is snowball Bot.

I keep seeing this pattern just about every single game, it's getting old. Why does Top lane get punished so hard? It's unfair for one champion to be forced into 1v2 / 1v3 (obviously if mid helps you could have 2, but if that's the case it might even turn into a 2v4 since I'm certain the other mid will come that way seeing a fight) all because of one lost lane.

Even if Top leaves to prevent or stall out the Bottom lane snowball, the enemy Top now has a free lane to farm in and tower push. I've seen Junglers come to prevent it, but few Junglers are powerful enough to stop a farmed enemy Top laner 1v1 without dying to them.

Top lane needs to be more impactful in games, right now it feels like grouping is the only option for a Top laner when their team starts losing.. Top lane is a giant shit hole right now where the only way you win out is if the rest of your team is winning. If you can't get the rest of your team back into the game, you lose.

That's not how it should be. I hope something can be done about this meta soon, because it's probably the worst meta for Top lane that we've had yet.

I fucking agree so much. Last two games, mid and bot have lost their lane.

What does that mean for me? A loss.

There is no chance for me to influence the game, I just have to accept that all the effort gone into winning lane is for nothing.

If ANY two lanes lose, odds are you lose. This isn't just a top lane issue.

That's not true. Bottom lane is at a point in the meta where even if Mid & Top both lose AD & Support or AD & Jungle can solo carry the game. Reality is, AD doesn't even need another role.. skilled Marksman players can literally carry unwinnable games against all odds. I'm not going to say that you can't win with a shitty or average ADC however you definitely won't win if your AD is a shit player and the enemy AD is a god. If the difference between your AD's skill level and theirs is too great it doesn't matter how well any other role does, the better Marksman wins the game hands-down 100% of the time.

Do you think this is a reliable way to win, or is it that you COULD win, but ODDS ARE you lose?

It's the same for the solo lanes. Not likely, but possible.

Here is something you need to learn. If you beat your lane opponent and don't use that advantage to help other lanes you will lose more often than not. This doesn't just go for top lane either this applies to mid and bot. It's a TEAM game so help and use your TEAM it isn't a 1v1.

"Help your other lanes"

Okay you are 3-0 Top laner trying to go help against a 6-1-2 ADC and 2-2-6 Support, how do you picture this fight going? Even if your ADC has 3 kills do you think he's going to be capable of fighting that? If the other Top has teleport, his team is stronger regardless of how far behind he is, so he's still going to be more useful than you are.

Mid + Bot dictate the entire game right now, Top lane is just some side lane that has no effect on anything.

Where were you when the bot lane died 8 times?

You really think a Top laner can just roam Bottom all the time for no reason? No you can't.

If you keep going Bottom you are missing farm and taking a lot of damage to your tower for no reason. If you don't trade with the enemy Top and attempt some kind of lead on him you are just letting him become another monster that your team won't be able to deal with as he'll have more farm, levels, and pressure than you.

But then his bot lane will be behind... See what I am getting at?

If you are lucky sure but what Top laner is going to come Bot with a sweeper? Even the chance of snowballing your Bot isn't worth letting the enemy get ahead of you. More often than not you're going to walk into a warded bush and they're going to stand by their tower until you leave. At that point you might be stopping your team from feeding but you are also giving the other Top laner an advantage in the process.

that's not true at all. You ever hear of a tryndamere or nasus not split pushing? If Draven keeps on pushing bot lane with his massive kills and gold he makes his gold/ experience drop by pushing him mid lane with the support and mid and the enemy mid ahead. You allow the other laner to catch up. Where if the team helps draven pushing bot they will take over a majority. your putting all that potential on a melee ranged top laner with turret gold less valued tryndamere doesn't care about getting hit its about how much they can get hit and keep on going. Tp in itself takes insanely long and turrets take a long time to destroy well bot's has reduced armor. Utility top wins games even if your a sejuani because team is damage high enough that it makes your lockdown more valuable well that nasus can only E and hope he doesn't die because the dream of stacking and pushing has died.

Seeing how those two champions literally cannot team fight (no well at least), they have no choice but to split push and win lane regardless of how well their teammates are doing. That doesn't mean that they're going to win a game when their bot lane is getting absolutely crushed. At some point the enemy team will rotate around and put Tryndamere / Nasus in his place and they'll be forced to fight with their team where they will be at a disadvantage.

So a fed ADC which is what you complained about in the first place isn't worth giving up a bit of pressure on the top lane? Strange how that only works for the ENEMY team eh? Maybe there is a constant that you aren't seeing...

You are missing the part where my ADC is losing to begin with. If they understood champion mechanics and how to play they wouldn't be losing to begin with. A fed player =/= a fed player who knows what they are doing. Having damage doesn't mean you know where to stand, when to use abilities, or who to use them on. I can go down there and get my ADC fed all day but the other guy is going to keep outplaying him because he's a better player.

If you TP bot and get your ADC fed the roles are reversed and you win. Quit crying either help out your lanes or get used to saying "Win lane lose game"

You just sound ignorant. What rank are you, bronze?

Every action has consequences. Let's say I do TP Bottom, the other Top laner will likely have TP as well. Just because I can beat the enemy Top 1v1 does not mean I'm going to beat him 3v3. I can sit there and tea bag a Galio all day in Top lane... if he matches my TP bot then uese his ultimate 3v3 against my two feeding teammates we are not winning that fight.

Not everything is as easy as "go help your teammates so they don't feed".

Says the kid crying about a lane needing a buff? Lol you are stupid even for a TSM fanboy.

It does need some buffs. Hopefully they'll create more reason for Mid & Junglers to come Top with the updated Rift Herald.

Right now, Bot tower is the weakest and easiest to take. Rift Herald is a terrible objective that no one takes. Dragon is a super powerful objective which really sucks to lose. If a Jungler comes Top right now, there's no advantage for him even if he gives his Top laner a lead. Coming Top could also lead to Bot getting 3v2'd and possibly a lost tower, you could also lose Dragon. Top is left hanging out to dry until either Mid / Bot snowballs and is strong enough to roam for the free gold from the Top lane outer towers.

You can splitpush and draw people top, you can roam mid or do some counter jungling. Make a TP play. Yeah, toplane's carrying ability is limited. This has always been the case.

Draw people Top for what purpose? When the enemy ADC is really far ahead they no longer need a Support. You're going to be Splitting into a team that has manpower to spare. The other team's support is almost 100% going to be either mid, leaving their Mid to deal with you, if the Support himself doesn't come Top. At that point you aren't going to be able to split anything. You're dealing with 1v2 situations, maybe even 1v3 depending on how pushed the other two lanes are because the enemy Jungler might have nothing else to do.

If you are split pushing your team has to be able to hold a 4v5 or it doesn't work. If you are complaining about your team not being able to do that then you shouldn't splitpush?

No top lane does not need buffs.
