Riot Can we have a moment to talk about Sion?

I think Sion is weak and extremely popular now. Riot reworked him and made him so fun to play, the rework happened around when i first stared playing League and I can honestly say this champion was a big reason I got so engrossed in the game. It feels like he was nerfed and then just ignored and I believe there was ample time to work on him (eg the whole Juggernaut rework). It feels really awkward that a champion whose title is the Undead JUGGERNAUT was ignored in the Juggernaut project. I think it's sad the his playrate is under 1% (according to champ.gg http://champion.gg/champion/Sion )

Some problems I think he has are;

  1. His passive. His passive honestly only really helps when the enemy team is surprised by it because they haven't faced a Sion in forever. If they know about your passive, they can just avoid you, and if they have mobility lol you don't have a passive. His passive also takes too long before you can actually do anything giving them ample time to just run away. I think death passives (except Karthus) are generally unimpactful to be honest. I like the idea of his passive though, i like stealing red then teleporting into top lane.

  2. His W nerf. THIS NERF WAS TERRIBLE. 3 seconds before you can pop it? IT'S TOO LONG. That W nerf is horrible.

  3. His Ult. I really love it but it makes me sometimes wonder how actually impactful it is outside a point blank usage or against any enemy who more or less knows what they are doing. I would love it if he could flash while ulting. I think that would make hime more scary.

So what are all your opinions about Sion

I think you underestimate the guy bro... He's really in a much better spot than most think... The biggest "problem" he has is his level of counterplay but honestly he has more than enough potential to make up for it.

His passive has ridiculous potential and needs to be hard to use/easy to counter... I mean keep in mind the fact that when your passive goes off your already dead... Most champions get nothing after death... Sion gets a 2nd health bar, AS, %health damage on-hit and a MS buff... Most importantly his passive provides him with zone control after death which is exactly what it is supposed to provide him!

Now I know this is an unpopular opinion but if you ask me 3 seconds is perfect. It's perfect because it is hard to get off... 2 seconds is just too quick and easy honestly... Besides Sion has all kinds of tools to successfully get his shield off... Here's some tips:

Don't be afraid to activate it early... If your thinking of trading or you think they want to then pop it up... Make them think about it... The big red bubble is scary! And if your jungling put your first point into your W like usual and activate it at 1:36 so that you can pop it as soon as you need to (you can basically take 1 hit from the camp before it gets popped at this point).

You can activate your shield while charging your Q and while ulting. Use that to your advantage because they can't pop your shield if they're running/CCed/can't even see you yet (choo choo!).

Your E is your most reliable ability; use it to set up your Q and to keep them off you/slow them down so you can disengage as your shield is charging.

Now his ult is absolutely beautiful and I sure hope they never touch it... It's the perfect amount of badass potential power balanced by difficulty. It can be extremely impactful and game changing.

At the end of the day he is debatably the healthiest champion in the game as far as kit power vs. counterplay goes. In other words he is powerful but difficult and that my friend is why people don't play him; there are plenty of champions that bring significant power that are much less difficult. I would argue that Sion is one of the most powerful champs in the game and one of the most difficult. Give him anything and they'd have to take something away... I don't think he needs anything.
