The real problem in the new jungle
I'm a high plat / low diamond jungle main. Last season I played almost exclusively tank or hypercarry jungles, essentially the ones that have been punished hard in the new jungle.
I have tried so hard to make them work, but they have no options in this jungle. Their lack of flexibility is the summation of why so many junglers are so weak right now.
Tanks have crap clears. They have crap objective control. They have unsafe hp on their clears early. This leaves one choice , to gank. If they can't gank early they will get behind someone who can clear camps safely more effectively. This problem is compounded when it comes to counter ganks. Tanks buy hp and boots early. Top tier junglers buy damage damage damage. That means if you try to gank, and get countered you will lose. Hard.
Tanks have to gank. If they don't gank, they farm with less hp and slower than their counterparts. It's pretty linear, and their opponent knows it.
Hyper carries like yi are the same thing reversed. The opponent knows they get safe ganks uncontested for a large part of the early game. Yi, Warwick, fiddle styled heros open a huge window of safe free time for the opposing jungle to take advantage of.
In both cases you're forced to play inefficiently if the game doesn't flow towards your play style. Yi is great if your lanes all win and all you have to do is farm and counter. Good luck if their panth chaingp ganks and wins all their lanes while you're pre 6 and weak. Rammus is great if you get off some early ganks. Have fun if you lanes all push and you have to farm with him.
Now look at lee vi j4. They all can both clear very fast / safe if they have no gank options. They all have strong pre 6 ganks. J4 and vi can both take dragon at lvl 4 quickly / at safe health solo.
Simply put they have every option on the table. They're happy farming if there's no ganks. They gank solidly gank and counter gank if it's ok the table. They have scary early objective threat. This. This is the problem. Every other jungle class has 1 thing the can do, and if that's off the table they are sub par. It's not even a choice. If Rammus can't get early ganks, he's behind. Period. His options are gank or ?.
This is what needs to be fixed in the jungle. They need to open up options for the tank / hyper carry junglers. Tank junglers need to be able to clear and defend their jungle better. They already lose duels and counter ganks. Isn't thst enough of a weakness? Hypercarries... I don't have as much problem there, they should prob be pidgin holed, since they're hypercarries.
