Assassin Update Should Be Next

The next update should be for assassins. Generally they are feast or famine, overpowered or underpowered. An update would be the best way to address them. Give them some specialized items and make their kits safer to play as and against.

The champions I would like to see in such an update are:

Evelynn Evelynn - She is in a really awkward spot right now. She is an assassin that thrives in chaotic team fights, similar to Illaoi, but only because of her ultimate which has an extremely long cool down. Otherwise without an ultimate or being far ahead she is very lackluster.

Akali Akali - The player is either destroying the enemy team, or they are regretting picking Akali. I understand that her core style of playing will most likely always be dive in and kill the enemy carry, but to be honest its more of a kill for kill kind of deal when team fighting unless you play janitor. Another concern I have for her is a very static play style. No matter what you will always have the exact same combo unless you are on cool downs. Perhaps Riot should look into giving her some more flexible spells.

Katarina Katarina - She pretty much has the same problem as Akali. Feast or famine, and her kit doesn't really have a lot of flexibility.

Rengar Rengar - He is pretty fun to play as, and I wouldn't say that he is a one-combo type of champion like Katarina and Akali, his real problem is having one job that is very easy to stop. He typically wants to get fed early game, and then come mid game he will dive the enemy carries and allow his team to fight the enemies without having to worry about one of their carries. If he is behind early game he becomes very team-reliant and will take a long time to catch up. Although if he does have a lead he won't be able to do much against teams that have peel, this makes him a very risky pick and generally the reward isn't worth it.

With Rengar, his stealth is pretty broken. When you see the exclamation mark and he's fed, you're going to die. With Eve, she's pretty bad in teamfights because her passive is nullified during the whole time.

I agree with the aforementioned champions that need the updates in terms of assassin. I'd also like to add Fizz and Khazix to your list. I think both of these champions are problematic and need some tuning and kit changes in order for them to be more healthy to play and play against.

I think there's like 90% chance it's going to be assassins. Riot keeps saying that they haven't fully decided yet, but every time they mention the next update, assassins are all they really talk about. They've already started on Katarina

Can you give a link if they have shared any details?

No specific details AFAIK. It was in the twitch stream, over here:

They reference it a few times, I don't have timestamps though, sorry

Evelynn and Akali seem like larger updates to me. I know both need a visual update so I wouldn't be surprised if riot made both of them VGU candidates.

Eve is slated for sometime next year.

While I agree with what you said I hope they do a major change to Akali because I like how she is right now ability wise. Maybe change her e and w but her ult and q are fine how they are, I don't want her playstyle to change completely from how it is now.

talon still has no passive

I had the idea of listing some other champions but I had little to no experience with them, so my opinion really wouldn't be the best.

talon still has no passive

True. Passive makes him sound more team reliant but he dives the back line which makes him pretty far from the team. Plus the dmg should be a little better for a worse lanning phase. A single arm guard or tank item shouldn't stop talon as much as it does against a squishy.

I think the assassin update would come next too. While divers and initiating tanks (which are the other two groups Riot is considering) have problems too, the problems most assassins have come from a lack of counterplay (the only real exception being Evelyn, who has problems with her theme not matching her gameplay) while divers and vanguards have a problem of not being distinct enough from each other, which isn't nearly as bad.

It's also not possible to discuss the assassin update without talking about Talon. Out of any assassin I feel like he might get some of the biggest changes out of all of the assassins because not only is his kit very feast-or-famine, but he also has some of the biggest counterplay issues of any assassin due to the amount of damage he can potentially output in a short amount of time without his opponent being able to react.
