Why?

I have some questions that need some answers and Im not complaining about anything just trying to understand:

  • Why do most higher elo players double click away in one direction and then click in another direction or lasthit - does this help and how?

  • Why or when do I use attack move?

Updates

  • Scenario: Im currently behind as a marksman and all of the lanes are pushed but I need to farm where should I go since I dont know where the enemies are? (Im a low ELO player snd find myself in this situation occasionally and when I go to the jungle it seems I take too much damage from the camps)

  • When should I take shiv? When should I take rapidfire cannon? Zeal v. BF Sword in early game? Why?

  1. The idea is that if you're already in motion, it's easier to switch to your next motion. Let's say for example you walk halfway into your lane, hit S, and then patiently hover your mouse over a minion to last hit it. if a Blitzcrank suddenly got an angle on you and fired his hook, you'd need to move your mouse out of the way and click. Compare this to if you already were constantly changing direction out of habit. It becomes harder for Blitzcrank to get an angle on you in the first place, and as he fires the hook, odds are your mouse is already in a position that allows you to move, reducing those fractions of a second that could make the difference between a successful or failed hook. It also teaches you good habits to build for the next skill:
  2. You want to use Attack Moves especially on Marksmen to maximize your range from potential danger in a fight. For example, you can position your Marksman to behind your Support, and then Attack Move just in front of your Support. The Marksman will automatically lock on to the first target it can hit, and stop moving once they're in range. In other words, you are at the maximum range from the very first target that you can possibly reach, or vice versa, you are the maximum range from the first person that can possibly reach you. This is why you want to attack move, if done right, you can position yourself perfectly. I also heard that for some players, it's far easier to orb walk while attack moving. Animation Cancels are also easier to execute if you can combine them properly, according to some Riven players. As for when you need to, I'd say either initiating a skirmish/teamfight or when you are especially in danger of the enemy front line. As a Marksman, your job and the items you built are suited for killing Tanks. It actually makes it far better for you, therefore, to not overextend and simply focus fire the first target you can reach, as most of the time they will be a tank. It also helps to use Attack Move commands for that maximum distance, as you carelessly overextending may also mean positioning yourself for someone other than your primary target to reach you.
