Your pick-or-bans for 5.13 will likely be:

For Carthage··1 votes·1,615 views

The predictions:

Vel'Koz Brand (4 second Rylai's slows on abilities yes plz) Lux Ahri Ezreal (again, which thank you for buffing Runeglaive for whatever reason and not just bringing back a dedicated AP jungling item) Annie (hello 10% MS on a 900+ stunning ult with the new and improved Rylai's) Malzahar (see Brand) Edit: Vlad (Are you happy now) Amumu (I can't believe I forgot this even though it was in my head)

And now to wait for the nonsense that's going to ensue and see if I'm right.

Edit: And since everybody's throwing a fit about Sated Devourer, let's throw those in with the AP stomps:

Yi (again, happy?) Xin Zhao Udyr Shyvana

Fuck it, just copy-paste the old Feral Flare list minus Skarner. Now it's the League version of Pokemon, "Gotta ban them all".

Too bad you can only bring 6 Pokebans with you. Point is, fuck this update with a rusty wrench.

Important to note the Runeglaive thing is both a buff and a nerf to Ezreal; Runeglaive itself gets stronger, but it stops applying on-spells so he can't proc luden's with Q anymore.

OT: I don't really see picks / bans changing much to be honest (at least in terms of mages; should've specified this), maybe things like Vlad or Rumble who can REALLY abuse Rylai's for infinite kiting (and Vlad because well, he's Vlad)

While Brand and Malzahar will certainly become stronger (moreso Brand since Malzahar's main rush item is getting an hp nerf) I don't think they'll become SO strong that they become pick/ban worthy, especially since both have their weaknesses (Brand's almost entirely skillshots, no mobility and doesn't bring much utility; and Malzahar has similar levels of immobility, but his ult CAN become a liability when used outside of a 1v1)

Annie is pretty much already banworthy in some cases, Vel'Koz is pretty good too but I don't think he's banworthy for similar reasons to Brand (important to note by the way, the Rylai's change does virtually nothing to him, since all of his slows are already stronger than Rylai's slow).

People ban the silliest things. I see LB, Ekko and Ez. banned all the time even though their winrates are very unimpressive. If a champion has burst or can negate a part of someone's kit, it seems to become a common ban even when it isn't strong. For example I consider LB pretty weak atm and the stats. reflect that but she can be quite annoying.

Sometimes I ban champions to keep my team from playing them.

3TWarrior1 votes

lets look at the champion list: urgot, hmm, heck no warwick: gone and done with mordekaiser(bad idea since he's actually pretty good in the right hands) shaco: how many people can play shaco right? azir: looks like mid lane's going to lose

etc etc

some champs are good to ban for that reason, but there's really no way to tell

Anomander1 votes

When banning to keep your team from p[layting you ban flavors of the month that people think are OP but are actually hard to play.(skill shots ect)

Well I'm gonna pick the same thing because I'm not suddenly changing my main champions of ~1 year because of itemization changes

And I'll probably still ban the same thing too because fuck katarina and annie no matter what the meta is.

All those skillshot-based champions with lots of counterplay being played more would only be a good thing.

For Carthage1 votes

Ezreal ^ A good thing then, yes?

(To be fair, Ez never struck me as a problem more than fucking annoooooooooooooooooooooying)

Nameless Voice1 votes

Entirely skillshot based. Needs actual skill to play. I don't have a problem with him, and have no idea why so many people are complaining about him non-stop on these boards, or why he's suddenly top-ban in most of my games.

Most of the ones I've seen were awful, the few good ones did well but nothing game-breaking.

Yes, he's a strong poke-mage so he tends to have insane damage-dealt-to-champions... but so does Karma and I don't see anyone complaining about her.

Kãtãrinã1 votes

Brand/malz wouldn't be a 4 second slow it would be this effect DAMAGE OVER TIME OR MULTI-HIT SLOW 15% for 1.5 seconds ⇒ 20% for 1 second The only thing of malz that would be 4 seconds is his Q.

For Carthage1 votes

It reapplies itself every second on damage. The 1.5 seconds only exists for the end of the damage or if the damage/effect is mitigated somehow (for example, Morg's E would stop subsequent slows but not the already applied one). If they were entirely changing the functionality of these items in that way, they would (or should) specify that since as it is currently, the aforementioned function is how it works.

Kãtãrinã1 votes

It even says if the spell MAY fall under more then one of the things it will more likely go with the lowest slow. and his passive is a dot hence probable using that one

For Carthage1 votes

... You realize the point I made was that it's a 4 second slow regardless of which one it is, right?

LeapSecond1 votes

Great, I loved playing Brand cause he was hidden OP, not with this patch, it will be more obvious. They are probably going to nerf him.

Not lux Not malz Not brand

Lux isnt actually buffed by these changs. Malz and Brand are buffed, but their weaknesses still exist.

Could definitely see Vel'koz and Ahri. Annie could happen, though I don't think it'll be that strong.

Honestly, what I think will be most OP isn't even listed here. And I hope not very many people think of it

Durzaka1 votes

You realize that Runeglaive is being nerfed for Ezreal right?

Like 3/4 of the power for him is the fact it makes his Q proc Luden's which it no longer will do.

Like 3/4 of the power for him is the fact it makes his Q proc Luden's which it no longer will do.

That's wildly inaccurate. It's like a 12% loss in power on JUST his Qr. Which is fine since he'll still be in a good spot.

For Carthage1 votes

Not to mention his W, E, and R still proc off Luden's anyway and two of those have equally long range. His Q still warms up Luden's charges anyway, and it lowers his other cooldowns by 1 each hit, sooooooooo... not a huge difference.

Durzaka1 votes

His power right NOW.

His damage hasnt changed, what has change is his ability to reliably deal it from range without needing his ult.

That is why he is seeing competitive play right now. Ap Ezreal always had huge damage, but he also had draw backs that Runeglaive + Luden's help remove.

pE4CbxDPQO1 votes

You forgot Vladimir MasterYi

Leaf of the lake1 votes

Yi Shyv Udyr Vlad

(Because I know for a fact the enemy team will ban at least one of those, too). The AP changes honestly scare me less than the sated devourer. Sated devourer will break the game.

3TWarrior1 votes

pretty much, elise will be the jungle queen again, then of course, she'll be nerfed into obscurity again or the item will cease to exist...

with 5 spiders and 2 auto hits with her active on, that comes to 2.8 AP ratio minimum for just auto attacking and a respectable amount of AP ratio on healing per hit

Baby Ghoul1 votes

I'm gonna choose to ban Amumu Vladimir Ahri in draft because I love myself and my teammates.

therealdragon1 votes

Sorry, I must be stupid to miss this, why is Vel'koz getting banned? Along with other mages? one that is skillshot-reliant at that?

For Carthage1 votes

Mages that will fall under the term "Control Mage" as they have very heavy CC accompanied by the mass AoE slow caused by Rylai's new buff. With an 800+ range that generally outranges all other champs, it'll be incredibly easy to kite people. These champs all have abilities that can hit an entire team at once, applying that slow to everybody, which makes them not only easier to maneuver and position around, but much easier prey for zoning and catching.
