Has anyone ever proven that phantom dancer can proc off of gangplanks own barrels?
I have a friend who has experimented with the idea and it seemed to have worked. I wanted to ask if anyone else had a better build that isn't simply sticking to a meta...

if it did it'd be similar to vayne's w and runan's. it's doable, yes, but probably not the best idea. dunno though I don't play gangplank a lot cause I'm bad at setting up barrels.
Don't know if you are talking about gp off meta builds or any off meta builds in general. An off meta build that I have high success with on Urgot is Black cleaver/ Mortal reminder, ninja tabi /randuins omen, maw of malmortius/ blade of the ruined king. In runes I have 10% scaling cdr, ad , and a little bit of attack speed, to help him aa, and harass better, since his animation is really slow and clunky.
This build allows me to do high dmg, shred tanks and squishies alike, while being just enough tanky to not die as soon as someone farts. I play back like an ad caster and focus down who ever tries to go in, during team fights, but the build truely shines in small skirmishes 2vs 2 /3 vs3.
Dunno if it still works, but Full AP GP is funny asf, your barrels are meh, but your lichbane q hits like a truck, along with your like 3k dmg ult
