Need for a New League

There's quite a bit of complaining about Match Making from the community, most from us Bronze scrubs or Silvers (who often get matched with us Bronze scrubs).

There's a million posts about "Elo hell", which get dismissed as "you're bad" by much better players: they are right. People are Bronze because they are bad. However, that doesn't mean that those complaining about "Elo hell" don't have a valid point, because let me tell you, there's massively varying degrees of bad.

If I'm not mistaken base Elo is 1200, which is somewhere at the bottom of Silver. So that means that there are four leagues to climb, but only one to drop. Bronze is the second largest league but also the one with the most variation in skill, which to me creates the need for a league below Bronze.

"get better and climb" is fair enough, that's what people want to do, but improvements happen slowly. A bronze player may be improving but it's very possible that they still won't be able to climb. No one's going to become Platinum over night and their slight gradual improvements are unlikely to have a significant effect on a game to game basis. In which case they might feel like they aren't improving at all, and simply give up.

Time and time again I've encountered players that leave me wondering "how do you even get to level 30 without knowing what last hitting is?" or a similar thought. Players that have a grasp on the basic mechanics of the game but have other issues to work on shouldn't be matched with these people. Players who are trying to improve and climb shouldn't be matched with teammates who have near unplayable latency simply because we're all Bronze.

Bottom-line is adding a league below Bronze has absolutely zero affect on anyone above Bronze, but could make a huge difference for us in Bronze.
