Why does autofill exist in ranked?

Title says it all.

I understand it for normal draft, but for ranked? Where people are trying to play seriously? Doesn't really belong.

And no I'm not raging after I got autofilled support, I actually enjoy the support role.

Seems like every other game I get someone saying "gg autfilled", then makes a half-assed effort in game. Or someone makes the effort, but fails miserably because it's not their role. "You should be able to play every role", absolutely, I agree. However, in ranked shouldn't we always play our best?

I understand that having no autofill would lead to longer queue times but doesn't all the dodging cause by autofill also lead to longer queue times?

not to nearly the same magnitude.

players having to play off-roles has existed in every single season, it's not some new horrible thing that no one has ever seen before.

Really, I think Riot should abolish autofill from the whole game, but they should start with at least just Ranked games. I'm a Support main, but I can also play champs in Top, Mid, and ADC. The only role I'm hopeless in is Jungle, and my biggest concern is that I'm in a Ranked Queue, and I get autofilled into Jungle. However, if Riot is keeping Autofill, then I feel players who have to go through remake games or sit through Queue Dodgers should be granted Autofill Protect for their troubles.

i main the jungle role and i havent really seriously played on any lane since about 2-3 months. and everytime i get autofilled to botlane i cant help myself but dodge. and i'm not just talking about the supportrole wich i sometimes might enjoy but about the broken adc role. like srsly. i permanently lose lane because the enemy jungler keeps kicking my ass while our jungler is somewhere doing nothing (wich is pretty depressing for me as a jungle main, since i would have done it 10 times bettter).
