it seems like this item is dead, i dont see it anymore at all. i like to play malphite sion maokai top and i usually end up building sunfire because i really like it. especially when the enemy adc is something like kalista (not focusing on crit) i think randuins isnt the smartest choice.
is sunfire bad or why does noone build it anymore?

i dont know what came first tbh. but it just used to have the 40 magic damage/s aura flat. which made it a good midgame duelling item.
since the change of the aura scaling with level, it has lost that ability. lategame when it reaches the full 40 damage per second is too late to be of much use in a fight, due to scaling mr.
so now its only really picked up by top laners with bad waveclear.

Olath Quortek1 votesThe item is certainly not bad... It really just depends on what you want out of your item slot. I mean obviously we're talking about health and armor items so our options are Sunfire, Deadman's and Randuin's.
Randuin's is easily the best one of the 3 for pure tank as it's +10 armor outweighs it's -50 health in addition to reducing Crit damage and AS. It also provides a nice AOE slow if you need extra sticking power.
Deadman's provides a really nice MS buff (which is the main reason why it is more popular than Sunfire imo) in addition to some bonus single target damage and slow on impact.
Sunfire is the most offensive of the 3 easily out damaging Deadman's initial hit after a few seconds but provides no mobility nor CC.
