Questions and Challenge for Riot

Riot I have a question...

Why does every champion since reksai have "sustain-in-lane" or "sustain-in-jungle" or whatever? like... Fiora passive lifesteal with a more-powerful janna ultimate, reksai burrow heal, bard (i get, he's a support), ekko ulti regen, GP buffed mandarin, darius heal on Q, mordekaiser, garen passive slightly buffed, crit-oriented champs, illaoi tentacles (she doesn't need regen, i mean cmon), kindred every 10th auto or something and her ulti, tahm on his E, lissandra buff, ryze rework...

TRENDING

I'm just wondering why this is a growing trend? And also why is this a growing trend on AD champs? Illaoi is a prime example: she has massive lane harrass, especially with her soul thing, she's quite tanky as it is, and she has ridiculous poke. Whatever happened to relying on a champion's kit? Talon works extremely well before ravenous hydra without lifesteal or heal passives. give him that and he's as ridiculous as fiora was (and sort of still is). Crit champs deal even more damage than when they build AD, so why would they need a heal as well instead of relying on items to do so? Why is there such a reliance on healing? it makes buying pots cost inefficient for them, making pots effectively useless anyway, and thus buying items comes easier for them.

COUNTER PLAY Champions are starting to have less counterplay, especially upon release. Illaoi can be kited nice and easily, but even she once she flashes or soul steals an enemy will win trades and even all ins. Her counterplay is revolving around HER missing her skillshots. Fiora had no counterplay. she could not be CCed, her Q had such a low cooldown and mana cost and poking is free with the movement buff, and she will survive if she kills you first after level 6. This goes for GP upon rework too, since he has his cleanse built in, his easy movement speed buff to run further, and his stupidly ridiculous armor penetration.

Are champions being designed to have counterplay to them? Like, Illaoi i get has low mobility and can be countered through kiting, but why does she pretty much not have to buy pots like other top laners? So many champs are now in possession of lifesteal or spell vamp naturally, it's starting to become more of a "you don't need lifesteal items or pots" situation rather than that being a route to go for. Even if you're behind in lane, just use your low-cost abilities and you can survive and farm well enough to scale.

SALTY SCRUBLORD Now people are probably gonna comment saying I'm a low-elo salty scrub who just can't deal with it and likes to cry and complain, and fair enough. Yes I am silver 3, but I'm the type of person who, upon release of a champion, discovers counterplay. With darius i figured out range or beefy tanks can kill him, and still can. With gangplank, shoving lane and poking him consistently limits his progression. Ekko is CC and preventing ultimate from being used. Mordekaiser i never saw to be a problem, as a morgana support or a poke/lockdown support limits his ability to dominate, alongside a dash/spellshield adc to block any engage required from the enemy support/jungler. Fiora just pray that her passive doesn't lock in front of you, otherwise just lean her off the side of the passive.

But the ridiculousness of the fact that every champ has something that prevents this counterplay from working is annoying. Fiora will still successfully all in you level 6. Darius' passive and slow allows 2 free heals if you play your abilities right, and your ult landing makes it deadly for a gank to negate this engage as well. gangplank, once he gets items and some farm, can still shove a barrel right up your dead corpse even if it is delayed. Morde with drake becomes a stupidly awful adc to play against. Tahm literally has one counter to him and that is true damage, so vayne can wreck him. for the rest, you have to all focus him to destroy him.

PERCENT HEALTH My final curious point is this: why give champs nowadays "percent health damage" the whole time? Thresh is a great support who doesn't deal too much damage because of his kit being strong. Tahm has 4 great elements to his kit working around lockdown, so why does he need percent health damage too? Illaoi has regen on her tentacles, a massive lane harrass, good cc, and tentacles that constantly spawn, so why does she need true damage? kindred can kite slow and stay alive. why does she need rtue damage? fiora... never had "true damage" and was already stupid, so why now. especially with that heal? whatever happened to just... damage? And building for damage? Percent health deals the same damage as it would if you build health and armor, so... why not just rely on armor pen and damage instead?

TL:DR Here is the TL:DR of it all: Why do all champs suddenly NEED sustain-in-lane? Why is it impossible to design a champion without it? And why do champions need percent health damage? Why can't they rely on stats and their kit, rather than having to deal percent health damage?

My challenge: Design a champion that is both kit oriented and strong, without a kit-built health regen, and percent health damage.
