Rek'sai Balance Discussion

It may just be a lack of knowledge in counterplay, but the combination of things on Rek'sai's kit make her feel overpowered. I am unsure how I would tone her down though, as she feels like hitting her numbers would risk making her underwhelming. Maybe it is that I have not been playing ranked, maybe it is that she has not seen enough play yet for strategies to deal with her to have been developed, but she does feel a little strong after she first upgrades machete.

On that note, it should be made easier to navigate jungle items and upgrades. How I would suggest this be done would be to separate the machete upgrade and the enchantment in the recommended items. For this, have the machete upgrade as one item, without the enchant gem, and as a separate item, the enchant gem without the jungle item. This would dramatically improve click efficiency in the shop menu.

So, let's discuss Rek'sai's current state. Do you feel she needs tweaking, and what would you suggest?

She does feel very strong right now. I'm having a ton of success with her in normals.

There are a few things that come to mind:

  1. Increase the cooldown of Burrow/Unburrow to stretch out spell rotations a bit. Also, this will punish Rek'Sai players who mess up an engage.

  2. I think lowering her base movespeed and increasing her burrowed movespeed bonus would be interesting. It would reward enemies who can dodge her knock-up making her more kiteable after she unburrows.

  3. Maybe she needs a nerf to her early jungle. Increase the cooldown of Queen's Wrath (Q) at lower ranks.

Food for thought.

I've had no issue dealing with Rek sai, perhaps due to people not knowing how to play her yet Except that one time she found me at lvl2 and killed me, that was a bummer Tremor sense is really strong ;l

I have been playing her a lot and her main weakness is screwing up early. She is a bit like Draven in this sense because of a feast or famine concept. If I get behind as Rek'Sai or I am even at the same level as the opponent, she is not as powerful as many people think. She is just that much stronger when she is ahead.

It seems some people just can't keep in mind 3 things -She can see you in Fog Of War -You can side step the tunnel -She can get CC while tunnel or burrowed

Like this is the biggest thing I see people doing wrong. Like I'm tunneling towards them, what do they do, run in the same angle that I'm tunneling. It's like seeing a blitz hook and still going to the destination. You can side step it to make it useless. Also, like she is strong against champs when she ambushes them which is pretty easy, i wont lie. She can see movements of enemies so she can see ambushes or set them up. Warding your jungle work and while she is burrowed, she can't see wards being placed even if it's placed right on top of her She is AMAZING with Orianna. This I can't explain. Wait too easy to set things up because you can't dodge both her tunnel and the ult from ori. It's a lot like Rengar + Ori Ult

I find her unfun to play against because of all the tunnel escapes and overtuned early dps.

There needs to be more of a penalty for them screwing up. Right now they just lol tunnel away back to their own jg and tunnel system.

I'd like to see her stunned if you collapse a tunnel on her and only able to reenter a tunnel after not taking damage for 3 seconds.

I've only ever had success building her almost full tank unless I get ahead early. Her Q's strong but her E's a piece of shit damage.

She's only strong against melee champs in lane. She's like Riven, except worse in almost every way (her E is the only way she's better than Riven). I don't expect to see Rek get nerfed before Riven is, and I don't expect to see a Riven nerf too soon either.

According to surrender@20 they're slashing her AD ratio on Q by .1

This means 0.3 less of her total AD as damage when she gets all 3 Q's off. Because of her insane free attackspeed steroid later in the game she benefits very well from AD. With tiamat Rek'Sai was a super farmer and potentially murdered teams with AoE.

I personally find her early game very reasonable power wise, so this is a good direction I think. Her kit itself is very good at moving around the map but she does have weaknesses in the fact she relies on items for survivability. Plus she is quite easy to peel off your teammates. However Rek'Sai is very good at peeling herself with her point and click spammable knockup.

Personally I think she is fairly well designed and I wish more OP champs had holes in their kits like Rek'Sai instead all the CC + mobility + damage mitigation you could ever need (coughGnar*Lee Sin). I remember on her first days and on the PBE people kept asking for a slow on her Q. Meh

Phero12/21/2014, 5:48:55 AM1 votes

She still needs a slow on her Q. I don't even care if you take away all damage on Q and make it utility only but her lore / idea just doesn't fit with her skillset right now. DId you see that video of her? An unstoppable underground monster that you can't escape from? Yeah, you can escape from her plenty, you can basically walk away casually because of the CD on her tunnels and the fact that she can't place them anywhere AND even if she does place one they are slow as fuck compared to the trillion of blinks and dashes that champs have now.

Her vision means shit when you can't catch up to your prey. "HEY! I SEE YOU OVER THERE".. "YEAH!? But u can't do shit mole girl".... ":/"

Also, she is in fact very squishy and even if she builds tanky she goes down right fast if focused for a few seconds.

Chasing someone who screwed up and would die on any other champ, but they run into their jungle full of a million mole hills and how am I supposed to catch that?

The whole standing on hills while chasing doesn't work. Honestly. She needs a c on how often she can enter a hole. That's all there is to it.

Obviously.

What you do is you step on the tunnels BEFOREHAND. Don't let Rek'sai set up all those tunnels. I thought that was self-explanatory, yet people can't seem to grasp the fact that you can't chase a Rek'sai into a forest of tunnels and expect to catch her.

Think of Rek'sai like Heimerdinger. You can't dive Heimerdinger with all 3 of his turrets up and expect to live. Similarly, you can't chase Rek'sai with a network of tunnels up and expect to catch her.
