Navarune8 votesWhile you are 100% correct, yes, this is a video game, that does not negate the relevance of the quote. This is still a highly competitive arena where sportsmanship is still a worthy trait and something towards which to aspire. The anonymity of the internet should not be treated as license to treat humanity as your own little puppet show. Besides that, your player name becomes your identity and so, over time, you lose that anonymity as long as you continue using that name and whatever reputation you have developed for yourself under that name becomes who you are recognized as being.
Conversely, if a player only exhibit sportsmanship to garner recognition, then he is ultimately missing the point of what sportsmanship is about. We are all common competitors, with a common interest in League in this case, who have personalities, attitudes, and goals. A common respect for an individual, whether an opponent or teammate, enables the community to grow in reputation and effect. Sportsmanship is about creating an atmosphere where the competition, and ultimately victory, is not the exclusive goal but one alongside personal improvement, enjoyment, and camaraderie.
