Lethality Replacement Why?

Why did we replace Armor Penetration with Lethality in the first place? Doesn't it just make it really difficult to balance? You know, trying to balance scaling to levels when you can have it basic and be easier to balance. I mean not to offend anyone at riot but you guys honestly can't do basic Algebra [slayer-pantheon-thumbs]

I prefer that old item that looked like Nimbus and cost 1337 Gold. You guys are finally trying stuff seeing Nexus Blitz, maybe you could try something like making a gamemode called 'League of Legends Classic' & just do something pre-season 4.

Because the old system made it easier to 1shot champions with low armor. 15 arpen was 15 arpen.

Now when you buy lethality, its usually around 7 pen for 15 lethality when you first buy it, so you arent just removing all of sona's sub minion level armor.

It was actually a nerf IIRC. You used to get more armor pen earlier in the game. Now it is delayed by level.

But the rename was to reduce confusion about the purpose of the stat. A lot of people assumed it countered armor, but it's the opposite. When you are penetrating a flat amount of armor it's more effective against lower armor targets. So renaming the stat to "lethality" helped make it more clear to players who don't know the math of the armor system.

The problem was that champions like Jhin, MissFortune,Quinn, and Draven would just build an early Youmuu's and destroy you. Sure, crit isn't a perfect solution now but if armor pen was never nerfed you legitmately wouldn't be able to play tanks/adc ever.
