So I'm probably impossible to convince at this point...

how do we even handle kallista? She has a counter to so many threats. basically you cant ever catch her. I mean im sure you could come up with a team comp to kill her. Or a champ or two that beat her in lane. But i mean in general she can handle any situation. Let me be clear. Her issue isnt just one thing. Its them combined.

  1. Minion deny? I dont think so. Her E alone makes farming pretty easy for her. (An example: Run up basic a semi low minion, or 2, and dash away avoiding damage. Rend for minions.)

  2. CC counters her right? Yeah if you have enough to actually stop her till she is dead. Even a moderate amount of attack speed makes her jumps pretty hard to handle. Not to mention her jump backwards is even further. Oh her Q procs the jump also? So burn everything trying to kill her (Lets say its just bot lane, Kallista/supp vs adc/supp) there probably isnt enough cc to stop her from Q/Basic backwards jumping away. and i mean multiple times. Its not even cc in my eyes that can stop her.. its raw speed, power, and gap closers, a yi or akali. And you better be fed enough to kill her before she kills you.

  3. Why does she even have cc with that much mobility? Oh i got jumped on let me jump backwards, Rend for slow, continue to dash backwards to get away/forward for kill.

  4. So a combiation of issues. U chase her, cant due to reasons above.. well now your low from trying to chase her ( or half or taken even a little damage) she can then jump towards you constantly. A.k.a your not getting away. Oh and if she is chasing you down she can just rend you to slow jump around you.

  5. Her skill cap.. What? What skill cap? Rapid mouse spamming is a pretty common technique to dodge skill shots and confuse enemy as to where your actually gonna b (when they try to lead you). Well just add jumps to rapid mouse spamming and it isnt hard.

  6. oh look she has a varus Q (Obviously less range but point remains) Varus has to charge his and its super obvious. She just throws it and jumps into your face/or away. Like why does she need a long range skill shot execute.

7)oh let me be super mobile and charge you- throw malphite at your face then get malphite ulted. You were cced for ages while she stacks her infinite rends to kill you even if you survivethe initial engage (This is my issue with her ult, when combined with the rest of her kit). so there is little counterplay unless your ahead of her and can turn on her and immediately kill her and then still have enough to stop her soul bound partner. if you are even in lane or behind your definately done/running/flashing and praying she cant just basic/jump and still catch you. Or rend you. or Q you. Im not even factoring what her soulbound brings to the table

  1. Tell me any adc that has a comparable kit? You could maybe argue vayne's ability . to handle situations with her invis on ult + tumble + knockback/stun(with wall) + tank killing abilities(which has kallista but is MAGIC DAMAGE, another issue)

I love all these unique mechanics. But put together i just see little weakness(low damage? pfft she can get fed enough to negate this weakness with situations above.). So basically she is the opposite of all your goals this season rito.

My simple question is wtf to do other than perma ban/ beat with nerf bat?

I think she is hella cool. Just hella scary. Solo que nightmare with an average or better support. Kalista

Her support will probably get Mikhael's, and if you bring enough CC for her she'll buy QSS third just as she's coming out of the laning phase. If she has to I mean. You failed to mention the infinite stacks she can build up on objective monsters, rendering Smite steals obsolete.

The only saving grace is that she is shitty in sieges. The job of an ADC is killing front liners and towers but she is not good at tower killing. So later in the game you can reduce her usefulness, but you won't be able to kill her. Like an ADC Nidalee who can only die if she is a noob and your skill level is irrelevant in that equation.

I think you're viewing countering Kalista too aggressively.

At the moment, Kalista is crazy overpowered. She was just released yesterday so she's due for some nerfs in the near future.

What we know about Kalista:

  1. Designed to kite.
  2. Requires coordination with her support to play to maximum potential.
  3. Requires her auto-attacks to land in order to deal most of her damage and activate abilities.

There are a few things we can do to mitigate her effectiveness in lane.

  1. Play with direct-target champions to help render her high mobility little more than fancy footwork. I suggest MissFortune and Taric for their lack of skill-shots, direct damage/CC and sustain abilities in lane. I'd like to see her kite Taric's stun.

  2. Memorize her Auto-Attack range. If she can't land any AA's on you, she can't deal most of her damage and will be reduced to using her skill shot to try and poke.

  3. Zone her support. If you can whittle down her support so that they have to return to base, that eliminates use of her ultimate, use of Sentinel's Passive, and also leaves you with a numbers advantage.

  4. I know this is lame, but playing smart. Don't get grabbed, rooted, stunned, whatever'd by her support. Always have minion cover, don't overextend, don't give them any openings and they can't touch you.

I had a match against her while I was playing TF. Gold card shut her down pretty hard. She has higher health than she should, but she's still VERY vulnerable to assassination and burst. Also, note that her W passive tank killer requires her support to hit as well, and is magic damage, not true damage. She has no hard CC, and getting around a slow is relatively easy.

The primary thing to do with Kalista is to zone her support. Almost all of her powers comes from her soulbond - without it, she loses the W passive and her ult. Early game she doesn't do tons of damage, so a strong early game ADC/Support can usually bully her out (Caitlyn/Morgana for example). Also, wait until you see where she's jumping before trying to land a skill shot. If she's jumping back it's further, but I am fairly certain her jumps are always the same distance except for that. If she's jumping, she can't dodge that Thresh hook or Morgana's binding.

Remember that she cannot cancel her AA's. This is actually one of her key weaknesses, but it requires watching her animation.

Kalista is a lot like Vayne, except she's a utilicarry instead of a hypercarry. If she gets going, she's going to be very powerful just from her bag of tricks, but if she has no laning phase, there's not much she can do.

Also, lol snares for days (See above example for shutdown). Snares delete her passive. Snares/stuns/knockups.

Note: While Kalista has some problems, perhaps the biggest one is that she was made for high level play. I expect to see her do well in the diamond/plat range, but people that get good at her will probably WRECK the lower divs for a while until people learn to counterplay her.
