Sometimes ranked makes me very, very, sad.

Back in May or June of 2014, I was demoted from S5 (where I was placed), to B1. I proceded to fall to the depths of B4, but after months of improving, I finally made my way back to S5 about a week or so ago. However after about 2-4 decent games in which we won fairly and lost fairly, I hit a bump that after which, I refuse to play ranked due to my apprehension on falling back to bronze. All 4 of these games occured at 0 lp, but perhaps the first was at 4 or 6 or so. Anyway lets get down to business. I just wanted to see if anyone else thinks that this is a bit unfair and that perhaps the ranked system should be a tad less severe. Here are the highlights.

1st game Me: Leona 2-8-13 Highlights: Azir didn't want to lane against Zed, so he lane swapped with Cho'Gath. Azir then went 2-14 and Cho'Gath originally went about even, and was building straight AP (Which is fine) however, after Zed started to kill Cho multiple times, then roamed more and more (finished 25-14-2) Cho'Gath decided to take his build, which had 5 AP full items and was closing in on full build, and sell it all and build straight armor. This made him useless and we lost shortly afterwards.

I can't get another pair of teamates as incompetent or trolling as this... can I?

2nd Game Me: Diana 12-8-3 Highlights: Volibear who refused to listen as we told him time and time again to stop chasing and Miss Fortune who followed every time but never said it was her fault as well. Volibear 1-12-8 MF 3-12-7 Jax jungle built straight AP 3-9-2

Sure I must have made plenty of mistakes along the way, but around half or so of my deaths came after the fed bot lane and massively fed yi decided to attend to killing the rest of my team, I said whatever, its one game, ill just hop on another game and try to win that.

3rd Game Me: Riven 19-16-6 Highlights: I became ridiculously fed to the point at which I could kill anyone on their team in 5 seconds or less, however our bot lane didn't do so hot. Trundle support barely built tank, and Caitlyn had Essence Reaver and The Black Cleaver in her final build. I managed to drag the game out long enough for everyone to be either at or very close to full build, but we winded up losing anyway.

I then took a break from ranked for a few days to get those 3 games out of my system.

4th Game Me: Diana 13-9-2 Highlights: After winning a tough matchup (only slightly due to Annie's excellent farming), I noticed bot wasn't doing so well. So after bot was double killed, I offered a word of advice to just stay back and farm, however, seconds later, 1-2-0 Sivir quit the game and never rejoined. Darius and I tried to stage a comeback, however with a 1-13 Aatrox jungle and no ADC, it proved impossible.

I am now currently waiting for the next season to begin so that I may return to playing ranked. Because I do not want to risk falling to B1 after the months of effort I spent trying to get out, just because I had teammates who quit, trolled, or just weren't very good. All things I cannot control.

I may come off as bragging about how good I am and how much everyone else sucks, but I don't want to be punished for things I can't control. What would you guys do in this situation? I just wish the ranked system was a bit more forgiving.

Honestly? I play during the day, versus the evening. I find the players tend to be more responsive, mature and fun, although there are outliers. Perhaps those players who are on in the middle of the day are more driven, or perhaps they have less time for games and so they try harder. But I basically don't play once schools start letting out. I see far less trolls than the average player as a result.

It sounds like ranked competitive play is not for you. If you are skilled enough to stay in silver, you will stay in silver.

Why do you think a pro player can get into diamond + within a week? It also sounds like you spend a lot of time doing well "yourself" instead of doing things that will aid your team.

All in all, it sounds like you have a lot of growing to do, and if you end up back in bronze, than that's where you belong. By not playing you're only gimping your own growth.
