People Leaving Ranked Games

It's bound to happen one time or another. Someone could lose track of time before work or their internet could die, but someone will eventually afk on you in a ranked game. I don't know if this is a bronze only problem or it happens in higher elos but normally, if your not already stupidly ahead, its hard to win a 4v5. I would even go as far to say most of the time its impossible to win a game where someone leaves early. It really puts your team at a disadvantage.

Personally i think there should be a system where if someone leaves a ranked game you do not lose LP for that game, or lose a smaller amount than a normal, 5v5 game. Ranked is in place so that players of the same elo can meet on an equal playing field and see whos better while climbing the ranks, but its hard to play on even ground when your down a man. Some might argue that winning a 4v5 truely proves that you should be higher in the ranks but i do not agree. If everyone in the game is at the same level of play, but the other team has an extra man, the team with the extra man will win every time. They just have more flexibility.

Idk this is just an idea i had while climbing my way out of bronze. I'll get out eventually as I've made my way from bronze 5 to bronze 2 over the course of a few weeks. People afking all the time just really slows people down.

Thx for reading

Look at /remake. In 6.11 they are going to test a system that allows the team with 4 to end the game with no loss if a player doesn't ever connect. This wont fix the "Im afk" situation, but at least it is something.

Bronze is too low of an rank to allow forgiveness for AFK like that. People could just make smuph accounts and prevent losses to their friend who they're trying to rank up.

What if we had a system where we gained LP for wins, but didn't lose them for losses....? Is there a reason why such a thing couldn't work? Like I may just be having a stoned moment here but...like, say you're limited to a certain number of ranked games per day (maybe not daily based, something reasonable)...then it wouldn't just be a farming thing...

Only downside to this would be that you'd never be able to drop your elo, only raise it, so if you ever peaked out and then somehow got worse, you'd just get beat down repeatedly unless you somehow pulled yourself out, and then it would only make it worse. It would be challenging as all hell though.

Statistically, it's a Bronze problem. I mean, you don't routinely AFK and make Gold.

The solution is to prevent Ranked play. You AFK'd in Ranked? 20 normal games before you can play Ranked again. Any AFK's during those 20 games resets the count. You need to give people a strong incentive to watch the clock or plan ahead. I just wish Riot had the spine to do it.
