How to check your ping before you play a game.

  1. Type "cm" in search bar.
  2. Open Command Prompt.
  3. type in "ping google.ca" (or any other website).
  4. It should display your ping milliseconds to you.

Hope this helps!

I just use a simple batch file I created on my desktop;

ping 104.160.131.1 -t

The NA game server is actually 192.64.170.1 (found on the Network kb article), but Riot tightly controls pings to it so you'll frequently not get a reply. The server IP I use is a hop just before that and will respond normally.

This guide you talked about displays your ping to google. Not your ping to league of legends. Instead of ping google.ca type ping na.leagueoflegends.com

It's still about the same tho for meh. The ping i mean so i usually just do google.ca

Thanks! This helps a lot since my connection can be at 3000 ping or 15, it really depends.

Better router should mostly get rid of that problem, if you are hardwired, then... well you need a new modem xD

AcidTheWarlock1 votes

Yeah, my router is actually really old lol

SHould definitely look into upgrading that :)

I would add - when you type "ping www.google.com" to actually type "ping www.google.com -t -l 1200" those pings will be a lot closer to simulating gaming related ones.

SOL then :D Welcome to NA server issues where anyone not East coast has 150 ping themselves.

People that live in NA range from 15-200 ping depending on where they live. NA is massive and has 1 server location while other smaller locations have 4 servers...the population just isn't here for it.

Why would you switch servers? If you live in Romania then you should stay on the EUNE server, Na Server is obviously in North America (Chicago) and the EUNE is in Amsterdam....... Kinda of the point of having different servers, the only ones your probably will have ok ping on would be EUW and EUNE

The reason i posted is cause it seems as if you have no clue how the separate servers work......

i transfered from eune where i had 50. to na where i have 150..

No duh your ping would drop drastically, so I obviously assumed you had no clue how it worked and decided to give you some insight..... even told you which servers you will have a better chance on ping wise (full list with locations here: jk to lazy find it yourself)

Ok sure but why1 votes

Well, it is pretty bs.

Also, is lower ping better than higher ping? And what does ping affect? How smoothly the game plays?

Raven Elizabeth1 votes

Yes the lower the ms(ping) the better. Internet speeds, Type of modem/router, your computer and the amount of things on the network can affect it. having 40-50 ping is makes the game run smooth as silk as long as you have decent FPS

  1. Type "CMD"
  2. ping google.ca (8.8.8.8) will ping google...it won't tell you your ping to League servers... Ping the League servers and that'll give you your ping.

usually I create a custom 1v1 game vs bot, if everything runs smoothly, exit match and jump into ranked

ping to google is different from ping to LoL

google has servers everywhere, so you'll usually have a better ping to google
