Sad to say...

All my friends who introduced me to league of legends have all quit or hardly play anymore.

I used to play 8-12 games a day, and am currently playing 0-3 a day.

Not sure what to say, but this games just become too frustrating to even try and play.

Feelsbad on how the games not the same, or hardly even fun (unless its played with a few friends when we mess around and troll each other in normals...)

A lot of the time it has nothing to do with balance. People just tire of doing the same thing for years. I used to play TF2 for hours every day a couple of years ago, but now I haven't touched it in half a year. The game didn't get worse, it arguably got way better, it's just that I grew tired of playing it and didn't find it fun. If you watched the same movie every night you'd eventually grow tired of that as well, no matter how much you loved it at first. Have your friends told you why they quit? I never see anyone mentioning that in posts like these.

Most of them quit due to being frustrated continuously by this game and its community and how it is. Some quit from being bored/or busy irl, its mainly a mix of the both, and i feel the same way currently.

I don't think your case is the same for League. There's so many things that Riot has done to negatively effect the game. Dynamic Queue, unreasonable core game changes such as towers and death timers, and champion balance is just non-existent this season. Riot's gameplay/balance teams have always poorly performed for most of League's history, but I think the game obviously has reached a low point when pro players are starting to outright flame Rioters and elo boosting is deemed legitimate.

I've hardly played for a year and the game feels like a chore, massively unbalanced and super frustrating to play now. Its not that all of us have been here for a long time, its all these changes have brought the game down massively.

I agree with this SO much.

I used to play Dark Souls like, a ton before I had a computer that could run simple games like Minecraft and such.

I played it 24/7. I had so much fun with it. I made about 3 characters and got to NG+x7 with all of them. I had a blast doing it. After playing it for so long it just got... boring. I tried playing Dark Souls 2, and I made a character, beat the game, and then barely played it afterwards. It was a new game, but it was still an "updated" Dark Souls.

Sure, people leave the game because it does get bad (See: Runescape, WoW) but most of the time, in my opinion, it boils down to boredom.

Balance is definately a major issue.

Bad balance = Same champions being meta = Same champions picked and banned just about every game. It's pretty much the same from bronze to diamond, the only place you see some variety is masters and above.

The game becomes like watching the same movie over and over just like you said.

Ergo = The changes that were meant to create more diversity has done the opposite and made the game stale. This is what I find making the game boring, everygame you will lane against the same old boring meta champions that instantly crowd out others as soon as they become OP splitting the champion tiers two groups, one where viable (op) champs pertain that's incredibly small and a group of obselete champs that is incredibly large, no matter how many changes Riot seem to make since the changes to the games core these groups never seem to change in size.

Ergo = The game has definately gotten staler and far more boring for some people, me included, I don't think playing meta lanes every game is fun, especially when I am trying to break the meta and getting shafted for it most of the time due to the shere difference in champion power, thus I also play meta and the cycle completes itself.

Couple that with the mixed MMR of DQ it's gotten alot worse competitively as well.

I have been playing this game since season 2 and I've never seen it be as stale as it is now. Sure we've had some meta's where particular roles were set in stone, but other roles often had great variety in the same meta. This season just about all roles seem to be set in stone having 2-3 top tier picks that generally get picked or banned.

But whatever, just my 5 cents.

SMITE makes much less money but has more maps and game modes. If Riot created another game mode, that'd help a ton.

Shac Norris1 votes

I would play more than 2 games a week if RIOT didn't keep pissing on their players.

SeductiveGrandpa1 votes

Honestly, TF2's latest updates have been pretty MEH and their balance changes are arguably getting worse (FUCKIN PHLOG) but yeah the game is still in a very good spot and they say the new update will have a ton of balance changes + the full release of competitive, whenever I get sick of TF2 I just leave it for a few months and then I return for a good while then leave it for another few months. You just gotta take breaks from games when you get tired of them and then get back into them later.

I've played League for 6+ years and I've never found it boring.

It's just become a less "healthy" environment as the attitudes of the players have changed. DQ and these "friendly" premades just serve to really force this attitude down everyone's throat

"its just a game" has morphed to mean its ok to troll, feed, afk, text, facebook, or just run around aimlessly, rather than the old meaning of "don't beat yourself up over that mistake, you'll do better next time".

In other words: TOXIC PLAYERS MAKE FOR A TOXIC PLAYING ENVIRONMENT.

Yet people blame LoL and not the idiots running it down mid in LoL.

Yes and no.

Riot's policies and changes encourage/force situations where people will behave negatively. Instead of identifying and addressing root causes, they identify and address the "smyptoms" instead, which ends up just creating even worse situations.

A good example is disallowing websites to publish premade status from the api because it would "cause toxicity". But this leads to even worse situations.

Old and mature players are quitting, and little immature kids keep joining, it was bound to happen.

Old and mature players are quitting, and little immature kids keep joining, it was bound to happen.

They are specifically designing policies and game balance around courting those players, rather than a more natural transitioning, which I don't think would result in lowering the average age/maturity level of the player base.

i know this feeling. i really wanna try to climb till plat just for the nice border this season. But it is to frustrating playing solo and in way to unrewarding. Feels bad.

The God Amumu2 votes

That was my goal. I wanted to to get to plat, and after achieving that work on diamond. But shame ive lost all the motivation and dont play much anymore. Sad, but hey its just a game, so dont think it matters too much.

You know how I know forums suck these days?

This thread (rightfully) gets upvoted in the gameplay section, but if it shows up on the "hot" list where only "memes and games" threads appear, it'd be downvoted to hell and back.

Honestly, I dont really care for likes/dislikes, i just come here to post my opinion whether people agree or not is whatever. The games been heading downhill for me the past few months, I still like it, and its the only online game I play, but I just hope riot realizes how this games turning out and how people feel about this game. Some changes are in order to say the least.

News at 11: people get bored of repetitive things they do every day.

The God Amumu1 votes

I mean i dont mind doing the same thing over and over. Example, I run almost every day, I ride my bike almost every day. Do i get bored of the same thing? No, I sometimes get bored of the same route but not the act itself. Point is, the games fun, the people on it arent, and the champions arent because how broken and frustrating this game is sometimes.

Feathermane1 votes

Every single one of these topics fails to explain the only relevant things:

a) how has the game changed;

b) how do these changes make the game less fun/more frustrating?

Even taking into account all of the major changes together - Rift Update, visible spawn timers, new items, messing with death timers, turrets, dynamic queue - it is unclear that the game is significantly different (the core gameplay is untouched), and why these changes would make the game less fun.

Also, players have been leaving at all stages in the game's past - my friends list from season 4 contained less than half of the people from season 3 and every following season has been the same. This does not tell us anything about the quality of the game, it is just indicative of gaming in general. If you play a computer game, you are not tied to it the way you are to an athletic or academic discipline. The cost of switching games is very low, the rate at which new games come out is very high. Stop thinking this means anything,

The God Amumu1 votes

I truly believe that even if i spent hours looking up and coming together to think of ideas of why this games changed for the worse, and what we can do to improve on it, I truly believe it will make zero difference. Im just here to rant to you guys about a game I used to love and is now whatever to me.

Since youve played from season 3, you cant deny that this games become more frustrating since then (and in some ways better), but at most parts more frustrating and annoying to deal with. I understand this game is going thru transitional periods and experimentation is still happening weekly, but I think they need to realize what theyre doing with some of these updates, and time to listen to the community, after all we are the ones playing the game...

And with some of these balance changes, I need to mention- It seriously looks like the balance team doesnt even test these champs in custom test games before releasing and they just change a few numbers test like 1 game and move forward. How 6.10 Swain became the most broken champ, and so forth.

They need to do way more testing and custom games on champions to truly see if the nerf/buff is good.
