How long does it take the game to determine your skill level?

I was told that as a new player, I don't need to worry about wins and losses and just to play because the game will know how good (or bad!) I am and place me in matches such that I will average a 50% w-l ratio. Does anyone know how long it takes for the game to do this? I'm 6-17 right now so about 3x more losses than I would expect. 2 of those wins involved multiple people on the other team being AFK! So any idea how much longer it will be before I no longer have to play people who are much, much better than me?

Its not that they are better than you, its that you probably do not know how to play the game yet. To learn that you need allot of more games, it should click before you hit lvl 30 and that's when you can get into your probable skill level by playing ranked

I'll second that you just need to learn more about the game. When I started playing there were only about 40 champions, it was much easier to learn the game, and it still took me months to really get comfortable with everything. I've had the advantage of being able to play with/against each champ as they were released. Jumping into the game when there are over 3 times that many is going to make things even harder, because it will take you much longer to see everything it has to offer.

Worry more about how to win games and how to master champions rather than your total win/loss record. It will click eventually.
