Muting Players

So I'm fairly new to LOL, and while I have about 100 bot games under my belt, i'm only on game number 20 or so for PvP.

Being new, I seem to get yelled at a lot. Now I'm not talking about asking for me to help here or there, but things like personal insults comparing me to someone with down syndrome or just telling me I'm bad. Now I KNOW I'm bad, but then people refuse to tell me what's wrong or how to fix it.

Ever since I started ignoring chats before/during the game, I seem to enjoy the game more, but I'm afraid that muting everyone is also hindering my ability to learn as it seems like every 5th game, there was someone who was actually interested in helping me get better. I have friends in real life that have played bot games with me to teach me, so maybe that's not that big of an issue, but can any one see the downside to just muting/ignoring the other players before/during a game and maybe how to mitigate it? I really do enjoy the game a lot more now that I'm not hearing racist/degrading comments all the time.

Mute the players who flame you and tilt you and keep everyone else who isn't toxic unmuted, simple as that.

Don't auto mute people. When they start being toxic is when you mute them, because after that anything they say won't be helpfull and might bring you problems if you tilt and argue.
