As a Jayce top main, hes just not good bot. You have to fight 2 enemies instead of one, thus your mana is gone in seconds. Also if you try to hit with your hammer to get some mana back, you will get poked out of lane. Your attack speed is also very slow, and the only way a Jayce bot lane would be good is if he went full crit (Reaver, IE, Phantom, Firecannon, Lord's, DuskBlade), meaning youd only be good late game. So youd do nothing early game in bot lane, which youre supposed to do a lot. Top lane is his area because hes a Late Game Champion, which is where almost all Top Laners go. Bot lane is more for people who are good early, mid, and late game, this way they can carry the game easier.

Hmm, I toplane Jayce as well, but I don't really build tanky at all. I build more crit, attack speed, and some tankiness with him and do fine. My early-late game is also really good as a whole, but it does all depend on how you build.

Like every other ability based champion, he needs the levels. Throwing him in a duo lane is just sub-optimal at best.

Low attack range, probably?

Pairing him up with Leona would probably be funny.

I suspect it's because he can only really use half of his power budget there, with the melee part being ignored. Top lane (or even Mid) he can use both Melee and Ranged effectively against most opponents.

In the pro scene, I've seen it like maybe once. (back when bot lane Mord was still good)

Aside from the fact that his AA range is still pretty short compared to other ADC's, He doesn't strike me as having an ADC's kit. (i.e. designed for High sustained DPS.)

Really he's a burst caster. Relying on Either the High damage from his cannon, or taking a more spell slinger approach with Trinity force. And ultimately, Any champion that's dual form is pretty much going to be a Caster, as they simply get more spells.

Jayce. Trinity force.

Trinity force.

okay, maybe that's just something I do.

I tend to prefer using his Hammer stance, as least as much as his cannon stance. And I also prefer to build him a little more Bruiser than Glass cannon.

The idea was to combined all his abilities with good CDR and sheen procs, to do effective Bruiser level DPS. (And TF is what most bruisers use.)

In some ways I wish his Bruiser build was more viable. Though it served me well in DnD mode.

Nothing actually wrong with this and is also my preferred way to play him when not going full AD to spam gated Qs. He has a ton of skills that you're using often in fights, and a Trinity Force playstyle encourages unpredictability with form swapping. If you can keep track of his various cooldowns in your head, it can be tough to be on the receiving end of a Bruiser Jayce with TF. Even just a simple early Sheen does wonders for his mana guzzling and adds a bit more to his poke threat/tower kill power.

I think Deft plays Jayce bot

Ehlekar1 votes

I believe one of the matches in the EDG vs FNC series at Worlds last year had Deft play Jayce ADC to go against Rekkles' Kennen ADC

his auto range is a lot less than other carries

trust me if teemo had more range he'd be played as adc. even in pro scene he will simply duel any adc including vayne because of his Q.

I've done it. The problems are:

  • He runs out of mana

  • He's really clunky and slow

  • Really doesn't scale like other ADC's.

Can it work sometimes? Sure.

I've had good luck winning lane with him, but he throws off team comp for late game. I usually went essence reaper first and that solved my mana problem.

TIME TO LOSE KID1 votes
  • he is not sustained damage, he is burst.
  • he is ability based and way too mana reliant
  • he cannot play entirely from the backline and be safe to be at his full potential. he is an all-in champion and ad carries do not put themselves at risk like that.
  • he does not scale into the late game. most champions whose core item involves a muramana suffer this fate, save for ezreal.

that's why. he isn't an AD carry because his kit is not that of an AD carry.

Death by Glamour1 votes

Cause he has to win Lane, which would be difficult vs many of the traditional carries.

Caitlyn I've laid claim to my territory.

Mostly because he is kind of like a mage and gets damage from his abilities, not auto attacks. So being in a duo lane where he shares XP just cuts his power because he wont level his abilities as fast meanwhile adcs deal most of their damage through basic attacks wich they can enhance just by csing.

Iv played a couple of times and I would say the main problem is the auto range and need to snowball, I would compare him to Quinn you can do it but it is to risky to be meta
