Question About ADC

Hello, I have a question about ADC's place in the meta right now. How good are they? I remember a couple patches ago they were joke and people even started to play mages in the role, but are they better now? ADC is my favorite role, but recently in all honesty I have been getting my ass handed to me in the bot lane. I feel like I am not useful any more and it seems to be be a big drop in power from season 6 to 7. I have tried a multitude of champions and many different builds, but I feel like I write the same story every game. It's either I get one shot by anyone building lethality or I just do no damage. Recently my damage has went downhill and I have been doing nothing. I get on average between 10k-40k damage and I'm aware that it's shitty for adc to get that low of damage, but to be frank I have no idea what I'm doing wrong and I don't think I changed anything.

If you could please tell me how good ADC is right now and how useful/role in the meta is that would be great. Also, please share with me some good champions atm and their builds. Thank you for the help.
